SEGA has released the announcement trailer for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F. It’s the first console game in the rhythm action franchise from Crypton Future Media to release in the west, and it will be made available in North America on PS3 and PSN and in Europe on PSN in August. A demo released yesterday in the US and hits when the PS Store updates today in Europe.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2 was announced for 3DS in the latest issue of Famitsu, according to Siliconera. It’s the follow up to last year’s effort, the first to grace Nintendo’s handheld. Sega has made some noise about potentially localising Hatsune Miku games for the west; the vocaloid has made popular appearances on PlayStation 3 and Vita as well.

Sorry to have raised your hopes, vocaloid fans; Sega has told Siliconera that the localised Hatsune Miku Vita demo Sony brought to E3 was just to guage interest. While first party co-ordinator Andrew Wong admitted the demo had been popular, he said Sega has “no plans” to bring Hatsune Miku west.

Joystiq went hands on with an Hatsune Miku Vita game at E3 2012. Neither Sony nor Sega have made any noises about bringing any of the vocaloid‘s games to the west, but there it was in playable form. In Japan they love the green-haired virtual idol so much she’s getting her own limited edition Vita but colour me boggled by the thought of localisation. We’ll try to find out more.

Want your very own blue-haired virtual popstar in your pocket? We’re sure you do. And Toyota is apparently convinced of the same thing, releasing an augmented reality application for your smartphone that will put Hatsune Miku right in the palm of your hand – or anywhere else you care to put the card.
