MS: Jackson Halo project “on hold”
Remember Peter Jackson saying Halo Chronicles had been cancelled? When he said the project “fell apart,” “is no longer happening,” has “collapsed,” and that his “involvement with the project” has “ended”?
Microsoft has released a statement on the matter, using less final wording.
From Joystiq:
“Microsoft Game Studios is deeply committed to supporting and strategically growing the Halo franchise, and our relationship with Peter and his team is something that we greatly value. Given the bandwidth of both of our companies we’ve decided to put this joint effort on hold and prioritize resources against other projects like Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo Legends.”
So there you go, sci-fi hobbit fans. Cling to those ethereal syllables. Dare to dream.

Halo Chronicles project “no longer happening”, says Jackson

Peter Jackson has said that his Halo Chronicles project is no longer gonna happen.
You could even say it’s as dead as Miranda Keyes, from the way Jackson talked – at least on his end.
“That Halo project is no longer happening, it sort of collapsed when the movie didn’t end up happening,” he said. “Microsoft has a whole strategy with the Halo property, and when the rights expired with the two studios, that sort of ended my involvement with the project.
“That fell apart because of internal politics at Fox and Universal. It had nothing to do with the budget or anything else. In fact, we hadn’t even been greenlit at all at that point.”
Confirmation came by way of Joystiq, which ran into Jackson at the premiere of District 9.

Microsoft staffing up for Peter Jackson Halo game
Microsoft is now advertising for a creative director, producer and “game engineers” to work on the Peter Jackson Halo game Microsoft announced at X06.
“A Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project was announced at X06 in Barcelona,” a Microsoft spokesperson told MTV.
“Since then, Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project. At this time, it’s necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will continue to remain involved in multiple aspects of the Halo Universe with MGS.”
More through the link. The game’s called Halo: Chronicles, in case you’d forgotten.

Jackson collab Halo Chronicles will be a “different experience”, says Kim
Xbox super-boss Shane Kim’s given first hints that the Peter Jackson Halo product announced at X06 may be something properly different from the games so far.
“The collaboration’s going really, really well,” he said. “I think people are going to look at it and they’re going to realise that it’s a different experience, whether that’s in terms of the perspective of the way we tell it, the way we deliver content, storytelling… I’m just saying that I think it’s going to be a different experience.”
It’s worth noting that as far as we’re aware, Microsoft has never used the word “game” to describe the super-secret Halo Chronicles. God only knows when we’re going to see anything solid on this.
