Guitar Hero IV drum kit – photo
Someone’s posted a picture of the Guitar Hero IV drum kit on his Destructoid blog. It’s a shot from the latest issue of Game Informer. It’s got cymbals on it. Well, they’re plastic bits pretending to be cymbals. You know what we mean. Go see. Game’s out at the end of the year.

Guitar Hero IV to include song creation, multiple instruments
Guitar Hero IV will feature the ability to make songs, and will allow drums and vocals as well as bass and guitar, according to the latest issue of Game Informer.
It’s not known yet whether or not the game will be compatible with Rock Band peripherals.
From Shacknews:
The song creation functionality will somehow allow users to customize everything but vocals, though the specifics of this remain unclear. Users will apparently be able to upload and share songs on all platforms, and will even be able to create their own album art.
Four bands have been confirmed thus far for the game–Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime–with Neversoft noting that all songs within the game will be master tracks provided by record labels.

Activision financials: Guitar Hero IV to “provide significant leap forward in innovation”
Speaking in an investor call after the announcement of record financials last night, Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith remained coy on the issue of adding new instruments to the Guitar Hero franchise, saying only that Guitar Hero IV would provide a “significant leap forward in innovation” when it releases later this year.
“For the holiday, we’ll provide a significant leap forward in innovation for Guitar Hero worldwide on all platforms including the PS3, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, and again on the DS,” he said.
“We’ll provide more information detailing this specific innovation in a couple weeks.”
Griffith added: “We’ve put a lot of additional development resources, a lot of additional music licenses resources, a lot of additional hardware supplier resources against the title to fuel growth over next year. We’re excited by the increased musical content and innovation we’re bringing. We do expect a leap forward in innovation with our holiday launch, and we’re about two weeks away from providing very specific details on that.”
Other instruments are involved. Bobby Kotick’s already said so.
Thanks, Gamespot.

Guitar Hero IV this year
According to this, Guitar Hero IV will arrive before the end of the year, a fact sourced from a press release issued by band The Answers. One of the outfit’s tracks, It’s Never Too Late, is to feature in the game after being picked out at the Marché international de l’édition musicale (nope, we don’t know either, but EG reckons it’s a music industry trade fair). Activision chose 20 tracks from the fair to be included in the game.
“This is a tremendous honour and privilege for both The Answer and the Alberts label,” said James Cassidy, UK boss of music label Alberts. “With a new album due later this year we look forward to taking the band to a whole new level of international success.”
Acitivision declined to comment.
