Gears 2 boss: I play Killzone 2, but I don’t like Dead Space

Yes, it’s true. Rod Fergusson, executive producer of Gears of War 2, is a Killzone 2 player. We know because he told us.
“I play a lot of things,” he said, talking at GDC last week. “I play World of Warcraft. Most recently I finished 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, which was a lot of fun. I’ve been playing some Killzone, I’ve been playing some RE5.
“I got through all 55 doors of Peggle on Xbox Live… I’m kind of all over the place in terms of games.”
Fergusson’s not a big horror game fan, though.
“I struggle with horror games like Dead Space. I can’t distance myself from things I’m watching, so I don’t keep a professional distance,” he said.
“I’m the guy that cries in Bambi and jumps in thriller movies.”
So there you have it. You reckon Guerrilla’s finished Gears 2 on Insane?

Amsterdam power supply weakened by Killzone 2

Killzone 2′s development team grew so large that Amsterdam’s power supply couldn’t pour out all the extra juice, apparently.
Guerrilla’s original team of 45 employees grew to around 200 over the course of development. Sony eventually came to the rescue with gas powered generator.
More through here.

Killzone 2 promos won’t work online

Can’t wait for Killzone 2? Dream about glowy red eyes? Already made yourself a futuristic Nazi hat in anticipation? Don’t, whatever you do, be tempted to buy one of the promo copies being sold online: you won’t be able to frag your friends.
This Guerrilla post on the US PS boards confirms that promos don’t allow normal online play.
So just wait, little Billy. Remember when you were three and you used to piss yourself with excitement every day for weeks before Christmas? No? You were horrible. Don’t make the world any worse by acting like a brat.

Eurogamer Killzone 2 review – it’s a 9 [Update]
Update: IGN’s given it 9.4.
Update 2: More scores:
- Jeuxvideo – 17/20
- IGN AU – 9
- Gamereactor Denmark – 9
- Eurogamer Portugal – 10
- Eurogamer Italy – 9
- Eurogamer Spain – 10
Eurogamer’s gone live with its Killzone 2 review, giving the game 9/10.
Snip:
This is a methodical shooter that makes few concessions to those not already interested in its single-minded approach to cover-based military action. I’ve compared it to Rainbow Six in the past, but it also calls to mind F.E.A.R, another tough tactical effort that was often misunderstood by those expecting a frag-happy spook hunt. Killzone 2 is a taut and muscular game, a shooter that gives back more than you put in, provided you have the intestinal fortitude. It may take its time revealing its true depths and pleasures, but the journey is well worth taking. Between Killzone 2′s unforgiving grit and Resistance 2′s alien-bursting excess, the PS3 finally has both ends of the shooter spectrum covered in grand style.
We’ll bring you more scores as they come up. Game’s out later this month.

First big Killzone 2 reviews go live tomorrow
Eurogamer’s confirmed its Killzone 2 review will go live tomorrow at 5pm GMT. Expect others in addition.
You may also want to dig a bunker. If any game is likely to exemplify the term “fanboy,” this is it. Those prone to schadenfreude will be hoping for a magic “8″, no doubt.
Don’t forget to fill the bunker with popcorn.
