Path of Exile “has exceeded initial expectations,” according to Grinding Gear Games, and has over 4 million registered users with over 250,000 daily users and 1.5 million unique players logged in during the end of open beta. Along with the impressive figures, the developer has also posted patch notes for update 1.0.2 which went live over the holiday weekend. Release Supporter Packs for Path of Exile are also now available. Thanks, Blue.

Path of Exile, the life-eating online dungeon crawler from New Zealand indie Grinding Gears, has received its first major post-launch update – and it’s a doozy.

Path of Exile has been in open beta since January, racking up some 3 million players along the way. Today the game is officially released, adding new areas, monsters, quests, skills, and a new Scion character class. There’s also support for Guilds, capture the flag, dueling, and tournament PvP options.

During the Path of Exile closed beta, the game featured these things called “race events” where you start a new character and try to accumulate money and level up quickly and generally be awesome at the game while starting from scratch at the beginning of the event. And now Grinding Gear is bringing them back in the open beta.
