As spotted by PSNStores, the ESRB has re-rated Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Both titles are listed with PlayStation 3 as platform and Sony Computer Entertainment America as publisher, suggesting a PlayStation Network release. The lack of a double pack listing suggests we’re probably looking at PS2 Classics re-releases rather than HD makeovers. I’ve sent Rockstar a gleeful fangirl email so fingers crossed for an official update soon.

Supposed details regarding Grand Theft Auto V have “leaked” from someone claiming to work for a PlayStation-focused magazine based in the UK. The rumored information was posted on GTAForums, and if any of this information is true, which it’s hard to know for sure at this point, expect a few spoilers out of it. Its been announced that Tomb Raider will lead a gallery exhibit of 64 years of British innovation. Known as British Design 1948-2012: Innovation in the Modern Age, it will contain 350 works of British-made innovation that has come about since the last time the Olympics were held in London. As well as Tomb Raider, other big names from games that will take part include Grand Theft Auto, Lemmings, Elite and LittleBigPlanet.

Ex-DMA Design chap Mike Dailly has posted the original GTA design documents up on Flickr. The game, released in 1997, was to be called Race’n’Chase, and was developed back when men were men: there’s 1Mb of space made available for audio. Check out the birth of a giant in the gallery below.

How long to wait for the next Grand Theft Auto? Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter reckons you’ve got about a year to go.

“While we still expect a GTA game in calendar 2010, it is not clear that the game will be released before the end of Take-Two’s fiscal year ending October 31,” Pachter said today as he downgraded his rating on Take-Two stock from “outperform” to “neutral”.

Piper Jaffray’s Anthony Gikas recently said that he expects the next in gaming’s ultimate franchise to arrive in “FY ’11,” or the 12 months beginning November 1, 2010.

Add the two together and you have GTA V releasing in the fourth calendar quarter of 2010.

Or not, obviously.
