Golden Axe dissenters “suck at games”, says Play Online boss
Play Online chief Dave Halverson has said that all those reviewers – yeah, that’s you – who gave Golden Axe: Beast Rider less than a seven [out of 10], either “don’t understand game design or just plain suck at games.”
“The majority of these people (can’t call them critics) either didn’t complete a fraction of the game, don’t understand game design, or just plain suck at games,” writes Halverson.
“The words “Hack ‘n’ Slash” are an instant red flag. Beast Rider is anything but. Mindlessly flailing in frustration because you can’t get the game’s simple controls/timing down is no way to play the game.
“Most gamers out there who would buy Beast Rider are far better players than the people rushing through a level or two to write these sad reviews; a sad but ever pervasive sign of the times,” he added.
We’re saying nothing.

Golden Axe: Beast Rider dated for October 17
Eurogamer’s reporting that Golden Axe: Beast Rider will release on October 17.
The Sega action remake’s hitting 360 and PS3. Little’s known of the title so far, in fairness, although it’s coming with an 18 BBFC rating, so expect plenty of blood and fur bikinis.

Golden Axe refused classification in Germany
Sega’s Golden Axe: Beast Rider won’t be coming out in Germany, according to this Eurogamer.de piece, as the USK has refused it classification.
That’s it, pretty much. No details. Poor old Sega.

New Golden Axe trailer released
After the break. Looks pretty good, in a “hit the monster” sort of way. Still not date on this, worryingly, other than “Fall 2008.”
Take a look anyway. It’s slated for PS3 and 360 release.

First Golden Axe shots released
Nice. A Golden Axe remake, named Beast Rider, was announced at E3 2006, but this is the first time anyone’s seen anything of the Secret Level-developed game. A teaser movie was known to be in existence, but it was strictly internal use only, so this really is the first look. The screens show beasts, as you’d expect, being ridden in open environments. No idea when this is going to release, but expect the mere sight of it to generate plenty of interest web-wide.
