The Saboteur goes gold after Pandemic’s no good, very bad week

EA may have pink-slipped 200 Pandemic staffers last week, but true to its word, The Saboteur escaped from the carnage relatively unscathed. And now, according to a post on Pandemic’s community site, the game has gone gold – just in time for its launch next month.
“I am very proud to communicate today that The Saboteur has officially gone ‘GOLD’ on all 3 planned platforms (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 & PC). This has been a very difficult week for Pandemic Studios, but does not change the fact that a team of amazing people worked very hard to make The Saboteur a great game that fans will be able to enjoy this holiday season,” said former Pandemician “sledgehammer70.”
On the bright side, this sadly orphaned game is looking great. Sure, it may not be the greatest thing ever to result from the loss of one’s parentage (that’d be Batman), but as far as videogames go, we think The Saboteur’s a pretty sure bet.

Three Last.fm hours per month for Silver Live members (maybe)

Live GM Christina DeRosa has told Joystiq that the service’s Silver members may be granted limited access to Last.fm for free.
“Silver users will be able access what we’re considering a trial period of three hours a month, which comes with video advertising,” she said.
“Gold users will have unlimited ad-supported access, so they can use it 24 hours a day. There will also be a premium offering on a subscription basis from Last.fm, that will be commercial free and will also have more sophisticated personalization features, like Loved Tracks.”
Last.fm launches on 360 this autumn. Thanks, Destructoid.

The firm’s also announced that console gamers that buy within the first two weeks of launch will get a free, platform-specific suit as DLC.

Spore’s gold, says EA
God knows how many years in the making, Spore finally went gold today ahead of its September 5 release. We could talk, but we won’t: there’s nothing you don’t already know.
“We are so excited to finally get Spore into the hands of fans and players,” said executive producer Lucy Bradshaw.
“The Maxis studio has had an absolute blast creating Spore, but the fun is just beginning. The most engaging stories are truly the ones people create themselves, and we can’t wait to see how players not only craft and explore the Spore universe, but hear what stories they have to tell as a result.”
