EA may have pink-slipped 200 Pandemic staffers last week, but true to its word, The Saboteur escaped from the carnage relatively unscathed. And now, according to a post on Pandemic’s community site, the game has gone gold – just in time for its launch next month.
“I am very proud to communicate today that The Saboteur has officially gone ‘GOLD’ on all 3 planned platforms (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 & PC). This has been a very difficult week for Pandemic Studios, but does not change the fact that a team of amazing people worked very hard to make The Saboteur a great game that fans will be able to enjoy this holiday season,” said former Pandemician “sledgehammer70.”
On the bright side, this sadly orphaned game is looking great. Sure, it may not be the greatest thing ever to result from the loss of one’s parentage (that’d be Batman), but as far as videogames go, we think The Saboteur’s a pretty sure bet.

Live GM Christina DeRosa has told Joystiq that the service’s Silver members may be granted limited access to Last.fm for free.
“Silver users will be able access what we’re considering a trial period of three hours a month, which comes with video advertising,” she said.
“Gold users will have unlimited ad-supported access, so they can use it 24 hours a day. There will also be a premium offering on a subscription basis from Last.fm, that will be commercial free and will also have more sophisticated personalization features, like Loved Tracks.”
Last.fm launches on 360 this autumn. Thanks, Destructoid.

A good reason to finally invest in an HD cable for your PS3, anyway.

Amazon is currently offering 13 month’s worth of Xbox Live Gold membership for a stupefying $30.
The price is a reduction from the normal $50, meaning you should probably get on it if you’ve been refusing to upgrade from Silver for the last few years.
Seriously. Sort it out. Do you want it to be free, or something?

EA’s confirmed that horror title Dead Space is gold.
The firm’s also announced that console gamers that buy within the first two weeks of launch will get a free, platform-specific suit as DLC.
Code is now in the hands of journalists, and from what we’ve been told this morning, the game’s level of violence is off the chart.
Indications are that this could be one of the most talked about games of the year.

The US PS Blog‘s confirmed that LittleBigPlanet will release on October 21, with the European version shipping in the “same week.”
Further, Sony’s going to make a Sackboy spacesuit freely available for download for the first week of the game’s existence. You can’t say fairer than that.
In addition, there’s also going to be a rare “I was there Week One” t-shirt available for your little cloth men and women. Just so you can prove you’re hardcore a few months down the line.
Oh. And the game’s gold. Exciting, innit?

Warhammer Online’s gold, says a press release both approved by EA and Mythic. You can read it after the link. You can believe this. Please don’t believe Mythic games are finished if senior execs at the developer say so. No sir. Believe press releases, though. Like the one after the link. Very official, that.

God knows how many years in the making, Spore finally went gold today ahead of its September 5 release. We could talk, but we won’t: there’s nothing you don’t already know.
“We are so excited to finally get Spore into the hands of fans and players,” said executive producer Lucy Bradshaw.
“The Maxis studio has had an absolute blast creating Spore, but the fun is just beginning. The most engaging stories are truly the ones people create themselves, and we can’t wait to see how players not only craft and explore the Spore universe, but hear what stories they have to tell as a result.”
