The God of War: Ascension panel from PAX Prime has been released by Sony on highlight video form. Panelists include: Mark Simon – lead designer, Patrick Murphy – principal character artist, Marianne Krawczyk – writer of the God of War series, and Todd Papy – game director. God of War: Ascension will release March 12 in North America, March 13 in Europe, March 14 in Australia and New Zealand, and March 15 in the UK.

God of War is still get the movie treatment and hasn’t been canned yet, although writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton have revealed that the screenplay has needed a lot of reworking. They have also confirmed that it’s an origin story comparable to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins.

Sony Santa Monica has posted a look at the Elephantaur – a Minotaur hybrid – which you will be fighting in God of War: Ascension. Apparently, inspiration for the anthropomorphic elephant originated with God of War III, but the idea was scrapped. Add in the fact that Izzy, its concept artist, was once bullied by an elephant in Thailand, and you have yourself a monster you can hack and slash in order to exact revenge for Izzy. Playfront has a listing for the God of War Omega Edition, which includes God of War Collections 1 and 2 along with a bronze statue of Kratos. The collection, which includes five games in all, has a date of November 2012 attached to it, but apparently it’s for Latin America only. We’ll send Sony a mail and ask about it regardless. Sony has released a single-player and multiplayer trailer for God of War: Ascension. The single-player video, as you will notice, contains many scenes culled from the E3 stage demo Sony showed here last week, while the other video shows off the arena. Sony has announced a collector’s edition for God of War: Ascension, which includes a steel book case, a Kratos statue, the official, digital game soundtrack , a PS3 dynamic theme and PSN avatar pack, with double XP points for multiplayer, and a DLC pass to unlock all future DLC releases for free. Also announced were pre-order incentives for both the standard and collector’s edition, which will include the Mythological Heroes Multiplayer DLC Pack. The collector’s edition will run $79.99, while the standard edition is $59.99. Game’s out March 12.
