Need for Speed: Rivals and other next-gen racers prove there’s “real hunger for the genre,” says Ghost Games
Need for Speed: Rivals executive producer Marcus Nilsson is pleased that there are other racing games in the pipeline for next-gen: Forza 5, DriveClub and The Crew. According to Nilsson, the development of said titles not only proves there’s a consumer demand, but such competition will push racing developers to innovate.

Need for Speed: Rivals is due for launch in the next couple of weeks, and Ghost Games has released two gameplay clips, showing the racer off on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Need for Speed: Rivals is due on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 November 19 in North America. It will arrive on PS4 in the region on November 15 and on Xbox One November 22. The game will release in Europe on all the aforementioned platforms on November 22, expect for PS4 which releases on November 29 in the region.

As you would expect, a new trailer for Need for Speed: Rivals, now the only racing game you can get on PS4 this year, has plenty of nice-looking shots of cars driving fast. It also has some cool narration from one of the racers talking about the law vs. the outlaws. “They say we endanger the public. But they are the ones you aren’t in control.” Indeed.

Need for Speed: Rivals will come equipped with the AllDrive system, which boasts the ability to seamlessly blends single and multiplayer together. To show the system off, EA and Ghost Games has released a video for it, which you can view below. A new Need for Speed: Rivals video is posted below showing enforcement objectives you’ll be given in your Assignments as a Cop and moments you’ll see on your Speedlist as a Racer.
Basically it shows progression and pursuit tech upgrades. Game’s out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 November 19 in North America and November 22 in the UK, and is a next-gen launch title.

Criterion Games’ studio director Fiona Sperry has said that it was never the developer’s intention to stick with doing Need for Speed games, and just because the majority of its staff is now over at Ghost Games doesn’t mean the developer is in dire straits.

Criterion Games has had its staff numbers reduced to 17 people total working at the Guildford-based studio, as the majority of the studio has now moved over to Ghost Games, according to various tweets which surfaced overnight.

Need for Speed: Rivals will contain various personalization and progression options, according to a demonstration shown during EA’s gamescom press conference. The firm also discussed how AllDrive “destroys the line between single-player and multiplayer,” and the points system which continues to grant points – until you are busted by the cops. Should that happen – all points are lost. Speedlists will also be included which are a set of objectives you will need to complete in exchange for various unlocks. Speed points can also be spent on new upgrades and cars. Check out two new videos through the break.
