XBL Activity for week of September 19 – Gears 3 comes second to Black Ops
While Gears of War 3 didn’t knock Black Ops from its reigning top spot on the XBL Activity chart, it did come in second place on a list filled with plenty a Call of Duty offering. Japanese charts: Dark Souls debut tops, Gears 3 boosts 360 sales
Media Create has released its retail sales list for the week ending September 26, and it finds Dark Souls debuting in the top slot for PS3 with 279,567 copies moved.

Conan O’Brien shows the sensitive, less violent side to Gears of War 3
Last night on Conan, our favorite ginger showed off the more sensitive side to Gears of War 3. According to the late night host on TBS, critics have been chatting about how the latest installment to the series is more emotional and may turn off hardcore gamers. Well, Conan decided to show just how genteel the game has become, and you can watch for yourself below. Apparently, Dom gets a bit upset when he finds out about R.E.M. retiring from the scene. Karen Traviss was given the somewhat unenviable task of writing the conclusion to the Gears of War trilogy – and she warns that, while the storyline is definitely finished, with a “definite answer”, fans shouldn’t expect all of the loose ends to be tied up.

Epic “felt the need to properly represent” women in Gears 3
The Gears of War series has plenty of female fans, and while Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski doesn’t really “know why” it does, he and the rest of the development team felt the fairer gender needed representation in the final act of the trilogy.
