The Gears of War series has pushed through 19 million in sales, which is an additional one million since it the figure of 18 million was announced in July. The math comes from Microsoft via Joystiq, and while the firm would not disclose sales figures for Gears of War 3, its first week at retail saw the title move 3 million, while Gears 1 and Gears 2 were noted to have sold 12 million combined as of June 2012.

The Gears of War 3 Season Pass is on sale today only for 50% off on XBL Marketplace. So, if you still haven’t splurged for the game’s DLC, now’s the time to do it. The pass was originally 2400 MS Points, and today it’s 1200 MS Points. You may wish to check regional availability in your area first before getting your wallet out.

Epic has released the Fenix Rising add-on for Gears of War 3, which features five new multiplayer maps “inspired by the life and experiences” the series’s hero, Marcus Fenix: Academy, Anvil, Depths, Escalation, and the Slab.

Epic is hosting a Gears 3 event, which mixes up the game’s multiplayer portion every day for the next 12 days. Called Twelve Days of Gearsmas, some of the events haven’t’ been announced, as the firm plans on releasing them as a surprise, but what is known so far is posted below. Folks can even try their hands at winning will daily prizes on the Gears community site. Prizes range from a Beta Tester t-shirt, to the GoW3 Vault created by Calibur11. The opening chapter from the Gears of War 3 DLC RAAM’s Shadow has been videoed, and is posted below in three-parts,courtesy of Ve3tro. The campaign takes place before the events of the first Gears, and will last around three hours. It will also include six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Skin Set and an additional 250 Gamerscore. RAAM’s Shadow is set for release on XBL December 13 and it will cost you 1200 MSP.

Gears of War 3 players who finish Horde mode on Insane difficulty in either single-player or multiplayer, and who watch the Mission: Impossible trailer on XBL before December 25, will get a “themed weapon skin pack”. The pack consists of skins for the Lancer, Hammerburst, Retro Lancer, Gnasher Shotgun, and Sawed-off Shotgun. If you are unable to finish Horde on Insane, though, you’ll still be put in a contest to win separate prizes.

Horde4Charity will be playing Borderlands 2 for forty-eight hours straight on in order to benefit the Skylight Miscarriage Organisation. The event has started now and is being streamed live on Justin.tv with Twitter updates via the Horde 4 Charity account and live blogged on the official Facebook page. Come the end of the event, the nine Scotsmen participating, will finally collapse from sleep deprivation, but hopefully not not until enough donations have been made. According to UKIE/Chart-Track and Intent Media figures, UK the games industry generated £27.7 million last week at retail, which is a 136 percent week-on-week increase and the second highest figure for the year. Last week, over 900,000 units of software were sold, which is up 74 percent over the prior week. Sales were largely driven by the release of F1 2011, and Gears of War 3 which debuted in first place on the UK charts. Thanks, MCV.

Cliff Bleszinski, in a post Gears 3 release interview with Edge, has described how the development team designed the boss and teh subsequent battles to be more than just massive beats its takes a few minutes to kill.

Last night on Conan, our favorite ginger showed off the more sensitive side to Gears of War 3. According to the late night host on TBS, critics have been chatting about how the latest installment to the series is more emotional and may turn off hardcore gamers. Well, Conan decided to show just how genteel the game has become, and you can watch for yourself below. Apparently, Dom gets a bit upset when he finds out about R.E.M. retiring from the scene. “I’d say that we’re putting the third game in a series that in many ways helped to define a console generation. Not completely, but if you look at the art style in Gears, and the cover system – I think a lot of games were positively influenced by it. To have that influence on the business is incredibly flattering, both for myself and everyone who works at Epic. [However] we need to remain humble and cautiously optimistic about every part that comes out and hope that it has an impact on the industry.
