Aliens: Colonial Marines has a pre-order trailer which asks you to follow in the footsteps of legends. These exclusive legacy characters are: Private Drake, Private Hudson, Corporal Hicks, and Sergeant Apone. When you pre-order, you will also be handed Ripley’s Flamethrower. The video below is for the EU region, but the pre-order video for GameStop in the US contains the same footage – just with the store’s logo. Aliens: Colonial Marines is out in February 2013 on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

Borderlands 2′s Mechromancer character will go by the name of Gaige, and she will be able to summon a robot to tank her enemies. The girl has a robot arm which controls said tanking robot. The Mechromancer DLC will released on October 16 for $9.99/£7.99/800 MS Points for those who aren’t part of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club which you become part of when pre-ordering the game. Borderlands 2′s Skill Tree Builder is now live. It allows players to plan how they want to spec their characters out ahead of the game’s release. Some functionality updates will be released next week, said Gearbox. The developer has posted instructions on the official Gearbox forum. Borderlands 2 releases on September 18 in the US and on September 21 in the UK for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Randy Pitchford has said the success of Borderlands enabled the firm to work on the Aliens franchise for SEGA, and while the licence may belong to a company other than Gearbox, it develops the titles as if it were the studio’s own IP.

Borderlands 2 is expected to spawn four major DLC packs, and a $30 season pass will grant you access to all of them, Kotaku reports. The news first broke via the GameStop Conference but was confirmed by Gearbox. Expect more details when an official announcement is made ahead of the shooter RPG hybrid’s September launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Gearbox Studios president Randy Pitchford has said the studio has “a few things going,” as far as next-generation development is concerned.
