Pre-order Tekken 6 in the UK, get hats, lapel pins
Admit it. You’ve always wanted a Tekken hat. Fortune smiles on you this morning, then, thanks to the announcement of Tekken 6′s pre-order bonuses for the UK.
For the early fight adopters in the audience, Game has special collector cards (PS3, 360); HMV has t-shirts (PS3, 360); Play.com has lapel pins (PS3, 360); Blockbuster has Tekken baseball caps (only on PS3, apparently; and Gamestation has an indispensable Tekken Calendar (again…).
You cannot say fairer than that. It’s out on October 30.

Retailer Game posts record financial profit and turnover
Retailer Game has posted record financial results for its fiscal year which ended January 31, 2009.
Reporting turnover gains of £1.97 billion (up 32 percent) and a profit of £126.2 million (up 68 percent), Game chairman Peter Lewis attributes the success to the chain’s international expansion and the acquisition of Gamestation.
“These were exceptional results for the Group with a 67% increase in profit before taxation and non-recurring costs to £126.2m (2008: £75.5m) and continue a consistent growth trend for our business,” he said. “The Group’s basic earnings per share before non-recurring costs in the last four years have increased by a compound annual average of over 44%.
“The principal drivers have been third generation formats with many products now having a wider demographic appeal, the further development of our specialist credentials, successful international expansion and the many benefits arising from our acquisition of Gamestation.”
Lewis also stated that current trading performance is “ahead of our expectations” which has the board confident for the year into January 2010.
More over on Edge.

British man finds ecstasy tablets in used GTA game

A British man found some “ecstasy tablets” in one of the used GTA games he purchased at a GameStation in Gloucestershire.
“When I opened the box up, the cling film wrap fell out. I could not believe it. I have two children and my son plays Xbox all the time. He could easily have opened the box and found them,” Richard Thornhill told the Telegraph.
“I dread to think what the consequences would have been if he had. He is only 12. He could have died. It was a pre-used game, but that should not make a difference. My wife is beside herself over this because she keeps thinking about what could have happened and so do I.”
Richard never mentioned why his son would have been messing about with mature rated game in the first place.

LittleBigPlanet drops to below £18 at Play and Tesco [Update]

[Update - It's £13 on Amazon. That's a bit stupid. Thanks, tenthousandgothsonacid.]
Play.com is offering LittleBigPlanet for £17.99, which, in the parlance of the gutter, is fucking cheap.
Tesco, not be outdone, has gone even cheaper: how does £17.96 sound?
The Media Molecule award-winner currently costs £40 from both Game and Gamestation.
So you probably won’t buy it from them, then.

Win a Dawn of War II Space Marine statue from GameStation

Fancy the thought of a life-size Blood Raven Space Marine guarding your living room? UK residents should head on over to the official Dawn of War II Facebook page and sign up to be a fan: you may just win one of your very own.
Standing over 2 meters (6.5 feet) high, statues are now on-site at five different GameStation stores across the UK. All you have to do is walk up to the thing, take your picture with it, and upload your photo to Facebook page. Then you need to tag yourself and the Space Marine in the photo with the location of the store.
Pretty simple really.
On February 26, the GameStation store that received the most tags will form a panel and choose the winner deemed to be the “most entertaining”. The five participating GameStation stores are:
- Hull – 59-60 Prospect Centre, Hull, HU2 8PW
- Orpington – 79 – 81 The Walnuts, Orpington, BR6 0TW
- Edinburgh – 134A Princes Street, EDINBURGH, EH2 4AH
- Blackburn – 59-61 King William Street, Blackburn, BB1 7DJ
- Stratford Upon Avon – 13 Town Square Shopping Centre, Stratford upon Avon, CV37 6AU
