Wii U’s Virutal Console store – Nintendo’s marketplace for retro titles – was announced during the company’s latest episode of Nintendo Direct yesterday. Check out Steph’s all-encompassing report on everything that got announced, including Wind Waker HD. Photos have surfaced online of the Virtual Console’s controller options, including dual GamePad support.

Wii U’s Gamepad features built-in universal remote functionality which will allow users to operate their television set and switch between various inputs. It sounds like a nifty thing, and could help do away with the stack of controllers you have lying around on your coffee table. According to Joystiq, it’s as easy to use as the press of a button on the touchscreen, which will bring up the TV controls at anytime. Sounds like the wave of the future to us, and a lot less clutter. Go have a read about it through the link.

We’ve told you in the past that FIFA 13 for the Wii U may be scaled back compared to its PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts, but today EA has announced the list of features that will be specific to Nintendo’s next-gen version of the footballer.
