New Super Mario Bros. U is the main feature in the next issue of Game Informer. The site said the October issues is the first time in “16 years since our cover story has focused on one of [Mario's] adventures.” The magazine paid a visit to Nintendo of America to play the game, nabbed an extensive feature on Wii U, and also interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. The magazine’s website will also feature month-long extensive coverage of the game as well. The cover is posted below along with a short video. Retailer promotion magazine Game Informer now has the third largest circulation of any US mag, according to this Bloomberg report. Circulation now stands at 8.2 million copies, pushing it ahead of Better Homes And Gardens. Thanks, GamesIndustry.

The next Gears of War game has been announced as the next cover for the new Game Informer with an official unveil at E3 next week.

Game Informer has announced that its April cover will be Halo 4. Inside, there will be a 14-page feature on the title which will include information on the story, multiplayer, and “the surprising new approach governing every aspect of Halo’s multiplayer experience.” You can also expect the prerequisite screenshots and concept art to go along with it.

The first details on The Last of Us’s story and gameplay have emerged from the latest Game Informer, as has confirmation there’ll be some sort of online mode.

Game Informer’s teasing its next issue, which will apparently contain a feature on a new installment in a series which “old school gamers will freak out over.” It won’t be the actual game readers will “freak” over though, but the studio behind the development of it. The reveal is set for this coming Thursday, January 5, and GAF users are speculating it could be a new Road Rash entry from Criterion or even a Valve-developed

Game Informer’s announced tonight that its next cover for the magazine’s new issue will be The Legend of Zelda. The magazine will take a look back at the series’ 25 years to date, as well as promising a ten page hands-on preview of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Wii. The mag will also preview Skyrim, Quantum Conundrum, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 and “an intriguing new game from EA,” although it isn’t specifically named. More details here.

Game Informer‘s put live the direct feed shots of Saints Row: The Third that appeared in its mag earlier this month as a cover exclusive.
