If you so choose, the PS3 will soon be able to update your Facebook status each time you earn a Trophy or make a purchase on the PlayStation Store. It only does everything, so you don’t have to do anything. Ever.
The 3.10 update will also include a revamped XMB photo category, and an upgraded PSN friends list.
No concrete release date yet, but Sony’s saying “soon” for this one. There’s a video of the update in action after the break, courtesy of the US PlayStation Blog.

Sony: PS3 firmware 3.0 is the “last major update for 2009″

Do you constantly fret about keeping your PS3 up-to-date and purring like a Blu-Ray-compatible kitten? Well then, you’ll be happy to hear that you’ve got the rest of 2009 off, as PS3 firmware 3.0 is the last major update Sony’s doling out in 2009.
“This is a big and significant update, so you would be correct to assume that [it's the last major update for 2009],” said PlayStation Network operations director Eric Lempel to G4.
He did, however, note that the release of a few smaller updates throughout the remainder of 2009 is still a possibility.

XMB battery glitch “definitely being corrected”

Sony’s Eric Lempel has told PC World that the XMB glitch the causes the battery meter to cover PS3′s clock is going to be fixed.

That’s right, Eric. Nothing like the rumours.

360 Firmware update out now! (It doesn’t do anything)

Microsoft, probably seething with rage at being left out of the console software update party this morning, has released a Firmware update for Xbox 360.
Don’t shit yourself just yet. It doesn’t do anything you’ll notice.
“This update addresses interruption issues that some Xbox Live users may have experienced when playing a limited number of Xbox 360 games,” said Nelson.
“There are no other changes or enhancements in this update. In other words no new features.”
Rubbish. Add text chat for 16 people Microsoft, eh? There’s a war going on, you know.

Firmware 2.41 is live
The PlayStation Blog is reporting that firmware 2.41 is now live. Sony’s Eric Lempel:
“Hi, everyone. As many of you know, we released PS3 firmware update v2.40 last week, but had to take it offline temporarily because, for a limited number of users, the XMB wouldn’t display after the update was installed. We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly.
We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience. Now we’ll be looking forward to seeing everyone online and racking up those trophies!”
We’re grabbing it now. Thanks to everyone that sent this in!

New in-game XMB vid posted
What better way to enjoy a Sunday evening than by looking at some footage of how Sony’s XMB will work in-game.
The internets was in turmoil after videogaming247 broke the news that in-game XMB and Trophy support were coming in the next Firmware update: namely 2.4.
You might also notice in the video that whoever is using it has been rather naughty and has hacked his machine. We at VG247 do not of course condone such actions. In fact, we hope whoever does it burns in the hell-fire only Rick Perry can imagine.
