More users report PS3 Firmware 2.42 issues
As you can see from this thread on the US PS Blog, people are complaining about disc-read errors after installing the latest PS3 Firmware, version 2.42.
Posters are casting aspersions on the validity of some of the complaints, but this comes after a previous report of similar issues at the weekend.
Trawl through that thread and see for yourself, assuming you’ve finished punching brick walls for the evening.

Rumour: Complaints arise over PS3 Firmware 2.42
According to this Product Reviews piece, complaints are emerging over PS3′s Firmware 2.42, including loss of Blu-ray functionality and an inability to connect to online games after updating.
We’ve no idea how widespread this is, but we’ll ask Sony for comment tomorrow.

Sony launches PS3 Firmware 2.42
According to this US PlayStation Blog post, Firmware 2.42′s launched for PS3. It sounds like a minor fix.
“This update improves the playback quality of some PlayStation 3 and PlayStation format software,” said PSN director Eric Lempel.
