XCOM developer teases new project
At PAX East, Firaxis showed a brief teaser trailer which was described as heralding the developer’s next big project. The teaser hasn’t been released yet but Kotaku has an off-screen version. If it’s not a a sequel to 2012′s XCOM: Enemy Unknown, then it’s something very closely related.

Civilization 5 Gold out now on Mac
Civilization 5 Gold is now available on OS-X. Like the Steam version, it includes the core game, all DLC, and the Gods and Kings expansion. On the Mac App Store, the same content is available under the title Campaign Edition, with discounts on in-app purchases offering the same hefty savings. Finally, Aspyr is offering 50% off all Civilization IV titles and Civilization III: Complete.

Civilization 5 Gold out now on Steam
2K has released a new version of Civilization 5 containing the core game, the Gods & Kings expansion, and all DLC to date in one tidy bundle. The fairly hefty package will set you back $90 on Steam, according to the Australian storefront, but is valued at over $170. Pat’s been playing a lot of Civ 5 lately, and I know plenty of you lot have invested hundreds of hours in it, so if you’re keen to check out some multiplayer leave a comment and maybe you’ll find an ally – or foe.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown PC patch unlocks HD movies
Wondering why the cinematics in XCOM: Enemy Unknown aren’t doing justice to your fancy pants HD monitor? Fret not, friends; Firaxis has issued a patch for the PC version which corrects this minor cosmetic issue. XCOM: Enemy Unknown can now be pre-loaded on PC
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is out next week, and those who pre-ordered the game on Steam can now pre-load the game to save some time come launch. Those who pre-ordered through Green Man Gaming should check their inboxes for the key so they can start the pre-load process as well. The download size is approximately 12.3GB, according to Evil Avatar. XCOM: Enemy Unknown launches in North American on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 9 and in Europe on October 12. XCOM: Enemy Unknown multiplayer video details point system, strategies
A video showing the multiplayer mode in XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been unleashed on YouTube courtesy of Gamespot. In the video posted below, the site discusses the mode, point system, and balancing with lead designer Jake Solomon, and shows the various strategies players can use to defeat their enemies. Players will be able to craft their own squads using 10,000 points available at the start of each match. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will release for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 9 in North America, and on October 12 in Europe.

2K’s has released a high resolution screenshot of the Elite Soldier Pack folks will get when they pre-order XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The pack contains the Hyperion and Reaper soldier armor, a full color customization feature for sets in the game, and a character from the original XCOM. Have a look at the kits below. Civilization V Steam Workshop patch available
Heads up – the promised Steam patch for Civilization V is live. Although the update adds a number of fixes and tweaks, notably to UI and presentation, the core content is probably Steam Workshop Integration, which will hopefully enable a lively modding scene. See the full patch notes here.

Civilization V: Gods & Kings lands on PC in June
2K has announced the Gods & Kings expansion pack for Civilization V will be released in North America on June 19 and internationally on June 22. Included in the expansion is new gameplay content allowing players to found a Pantheon of the Gods where their created prophets will spread the newly founded religion across the world. The expansion also includes new types of city-states, new systems for land and naval combat, nine new civilizations, nine new wonders, three original scenarios, and dozens of new units, buildings, technologies and resources.
