Square has detailed how it aims to fix server slowdown in Final Fantasy XIV. Patch 1.22 will now also make it possible for players to buy items within all three cities in the game through marked NPCs.

Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida has detailed the second-to-last update for the MMO before it hits Version 2.00. The latest update includes the hamlet defense system that was due the last update, as well as the inclusion of a new strongpoint that will continue to strengthen the war between Eorzea and the Empire. After a brief delay, Square Enix has confirmed that world mergers for Final Fantasy XIV will be starting later this month. From now until March 19th, you’re invited to put in your world transfer applications – after that, the transfers will take place during standard maintenance on March 27th.
Ten Ton Hammer reminds gamers to sign up well in advance of the merger, to make sure you land on a world that you’ll like.

Aimed for release within the second week of February, the latest communication from Naoki Yoshida indicates a further two week delay. Considering the sheer amount of content to be added, combined with the game’s history, this isn’t exactly surprising.

A few details regarding market ward improvements and the introduction of a player search feature included in the next update to Final Fantasy XIV have revealed. According to Massively, market wards will include functionality similar to Final Fantasy XI’s auction house, and will contain transaction history as well as an option to buy directly from the item search screen. The player search feature will soon allow players to flag themselves as looking for group, and allow players to indicate which classes and questlines they are needing. Players will also be able to sort by a variety of criteria when looking for potential party members, making things much easier and streamlined than the current system in place.
FFXIV Patch 1.20 is expected to hit on December 14.
