Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch this summer on PC and PS3. The third phase of closed beta testing will start in June, and as previously reported, this will include PS3 users. The beta will also include new content such as the city states of Ul’dah and Limsa Lominsa. New shots are below. Well, a few we’ve seen before, but you get the idea.

New screenshots for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn have appeared online, showing the Archer, Gladiator, Lancer, Marauder, Pugilist, Conjurer, and Thaumaturge classes. If you head over to NeoGAF, you will also see shots of the jobs Bard, Dragoon, Monk, Paladin, Warrior, Black Mage, and White Mage. The game is looking rather lovely, and if you head below, you will be able to watch a developer gameplay walkthrough video (thanks, EdNorton). Better grab something to drink and run a few errands first – it’s two hours long. Hopefully, you understand Japanese as well. A Realm Reborn is a complete remake of Final fantasy 14 currently in beta and is slated for PC and PS3 later this year.

Square Enix is offering Legacy players a chance to have their names appear in the credits for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. Legacy members are those who racked up at least 90 days of paid subscription time after January 6 2012. Register before April 30 for bragging rights, as well as a discounted subscription rate and chocobo mount. A Realm Reborn is a complete rebuild of the much-criticised Final Fantasy 14, and is expected on PC and PlayStation 3 later this year.

The second phase of closed beta testing for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn has started. Running across weekends throughout April, those who are in the early beta phase will be able to explore the forest environments of Gridania, with new features such as PC gamepad support and personal Chocobo mounts and Full Active Time Events. Phase three is scheduled for summer, and will include the PS3 version and more new content. You can still sign up for the beta.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will allow more testers in the beta come April, and during Phase 2, support for gamepad controllers will be implemented. Word on this comes from the latest producer letter which you can read here. Phase 2 of the beta, Yoshida says, will kick off in early April. There are currently 100,000 testers trying things out, and if you want in on Phase 2, be sure to sign up here for your chance at a spot. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn’s Phase 3 of the beta will go public and PS3 users will be able to join on the action. Both versions will be released later this year. Thanks, Siliconera.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn features the very latest incarnations of familiar summons. The new design of Shiva has been revealed over on the developer blog, showing our lady of diamond dust in fine form but not a heck of a lot of clothing. Still, she makes up for it with multiple unicorn horns. Or should that be multicorns? A Realm Reborn is a total overhaul of the troubled MMORPG, and is expected to launch early this year on PC and PlayStation 3.

In a new developer blog for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, we get a glimpse of work-in-progress chocobo barding. Look at that shizzle. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be the recipient of a fourth alpha test starting next week and running until mid-December. An extra world will be added so more players can participate, even though the test will include 40 areas which can accommodate 1,000 players at once. Still, it’s better to be safe than sorry. This will be the final alpha test for the MMO, but the development team is considering leaving the worlds open until the end of the year. More information is available through the latest producer’s letter.
