FIFA 10 sells 1.7 million Euro copies in week one
FIFA 10 is the fastest selling sports game of all time and EA’s biggest ever European launch, the publisher said this morning, with 1.7 million Euro units sold in just one week.
Mr Moore, understandably, is quite pleased.
“We were confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have shown just how much they love this game,” he said.
“We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great, authentic football competition.”
More than 10 million gaming sessions have now been played online, with over 155,000 gamers playing online simultaneously during peak playing hours.
FIFA was branded the second biggest UK launch of all time on Monday, only being bested by GTA IV.
The game launches in the US on October 20.

FIFA 11 could use Natal or Sony controller, but not because it “should”

FIFA 11 could end up using Natal and Sony’s motion controller, says series producer David Rutter, but not because people think it should be used.
“It’s funny. He (Peter Moore) said that and John Riccitiello said you’d never want Natal to control FIFA,” Rutter told Videogamer. “There are a few things we could do, which we’re thinking about doing at the moment. But it’s not something that’s suddenly going to manifest itself in FIFA 10.”
FIFA 11 then becomes a distinct possibility.
“I’m a big fan of, and I’ve said it a number of times and I’ll say it again, if it’s not good enough it won’t make it in,” he continued. “Don’t just want to put something in because it’s something we’re asked to do or it’s something people think we should.
“If it doesn’t add to the overall thing, then it’s pointless. I don’t want it to be just this distraction, to be quite honest. There are a few things we can do, definitely, but we’ve not really started on it yet.”

FIFA: EA says it would be “idiots” not to do more stuff online

EA Sports’ David Rutter has said that the company would be “idiots not to more online stuff” for future FIFA games.
“I think online is very important [to the franchise],” he told CVG. “We have a ridiculous number of people playing FIFA online every day.
“We’ve had almost 300 million games of FIFA played online since launch and it’s not let up. It’s just constant. That’s really nice and yeah, we’d be idiots not to do more online stuff.”
So there ya go. More online in the future for FIFA.
