Quick shots: FFXIII-2 screens look purdy and nice
Square Enix released a couple of new shots of Final Fantasy XIII-2 earlier this evening. We’ve been pre-occupied elsewhere, hence why we’re only getting these to you now. Better late than ever and all that. Get them below the break.
FFXIII-2 releases next year for PS3 and 360 in the west. It’s out in Japan in December.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 confirmed for EG Expo
Square Enix has added its backing to the Eurogamer Expo, confirming that FInal Fantasy XIII-2 will be playable on the showfloor. The game got a full blowout at E3 last month following its proper unveiling at a Square Japan event in January.
FFXIII-2′s out in early 2012 in the west, with a Japanese launch in Japan, on PS3 and 360. Eurogamer Expo takes place from September 22-25 at Earls Court. Get tickets here.

Quick shots: Square goes a bit screen-mad on FFXIII-2
Square Enix has just unleashed a couple of battle screens for Final Fantasy XIII-2, running on the PS3 version. You’d have to be hard bitten to say it doesn’t look nice anyways. Get them all after the break. XIII-2′s out this December in Japan, and early next year for PS3 and 360 in the west.

Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has said the decision to develop a sequel was partly motivated by the depth of the game’s ficitonal universe.

Continuing the flood of Final Fantasy XIII-2 factoids floating out of hands-on previews at E3, Square Enix has apparently decided to shake up the original FFXIII’s formula somewhat.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 confirmed for early 2012 western launch
We missed this earlier. Sorry. Square Enix has confirmed a western early 2012 launch for Final Fantasy XIII-2. The timeline comes at the end of the game’s first proper trailer, shown at E3 from last night. The game is scheduled to release in December this year in Japan at least. FFXIII-2 off-screen footage features gameplay, shows off mini-game
Kotaku‘s gone up with two off-screen videos of Final Fantasy XIII-2 being played after the Sony E3 press conference. The first is a fairly bog-standard gameplay video, showing a new character for the game, as well how the ATB system works in the game. The second video shows off an “anomaly” mini-game. Final Fantasy XIII-2 launches this winter for PS3 and 360, with a Japanese release now confirmed for December.

FFXIII-2 will feature darker story, returning characters from FFXIII
Producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama have said in Dengeki Magazine this week that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will feature a much darker story than that seen in FFXIII.

Kitase, Toriyama would like to do FFXIII-2
Final Fantasy XIII super-team Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama have told WriteAboutGames that if the opportunity showed up, they would like to do a sequel for it, as in FFXIII-2.
