The Far Cry 3 mode for Minecraft is now available. The free downloadable mod allows players to explore “the warped tones of Far Cry 3″ in the sandbox title. It contains the locations and characters, including Vaas, Jason and Citra, in it as Minecraft mobs. The map also features over 50 Easter Eggs, hidden through the Islands. It was created by Michael Lambert – Sacr3, creator of Newcraft City, and artists Axel Janssen and Yohann Delcourt. Download it here.

Ubisoft has announced a new four-part web series which re-imagines the basic premise of the batshit insane Far Cry 3, but in the real world. Called Far Cry Experience, the series is expected to launch close to the shooter’s PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release in late November. Over on the Far Cry blog, Ubisoft has announced that it will release a mod pack bringing the world of Far Cry 3 to Minecraft come October 26. The pack apparently includes modifications to “environments, weapons and tools”, “key Far Cry 3 locations and characters, including Vaas, Jason and Citra” and over 50 easter eggs to uncover. The announcement was accompanied by a series of playful mock-up images, but Ubisoft has confirmed the mod pack is very real. Far Cry 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late November, or early December in the US.

Far Cry 3 developer Ubisoft has acknowledged that driving in the previous game could be a grating experience. Lead game designer Jamie Keen has stressed that those old annoyances won’t appear in the new game.

Far Cry 3 has a new video out showing some of the bonus content players will get when they pre-order the game. Called the Lost Expeditions, the bonus material contains 40 additional minutes of gameplay such as Ignition in the Deep and The Forgotten Experiment, and comes with a flare gun which can be used in the multiplayer mode. The content is also included in the Insane Edition of the game. Far Cry 3 is out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 November 29 in Europe, November 30 in the UK, and December 3 in the US. Via YouTube.

A Far Cry 3 developer session hosted by Ubisoft Montreal’s Jamie Keen was held at Eurogamer Expo today. In his talk, Keen spoke about the challenges the team faced with development, how the team wanted the player to decide how the game was played, and went into detail on some of the gameplay. The main nugget to take away from Keen’s session, is that Far Cry 3 will allow you to do what you want, when you want. It’s all about player choice in an open-world that changes with the decisions the player makes.
