EverQuest and EverQuest 2 expansions to release in November
The latest EverQuest and EverQuest 2 expansions have been dated by SOE. EverQuest’s Rain of Fear, the 19th expansion to the MMO, will launch on November 28. EverQuest 2′s ninth expansion Chains of Eternity will release in November. SOE posted the news via a producer’s letter on the forums. The expansion takes place in EQII’s version of the afterlife, Norrath: Ethernere. Adventuring and tradeskill will level cap at 95, new quests and prestige abilities are in the cards, and another event SOE is “keeping under wraps” will debut close to the expansion’s release. SOE announces E3 line-up, SOEmote tech for EverQuest II
SOE has revealed its line-up for E3 which is heavy on the MMOs, obviously. Those attending will be able to get hands-on time with PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online, Bullet Run, Free Realms, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and Wizardry Online. The firm will also be showing off the new SOEmote tech for EverQuest II which is a facial recognition and voice technology feature that allows players the ability for “personal expression and role playing,” in EQII. You can get an look at how it works over on Polygon, which participated in the beta for the tech.

EverQuest II log-ins up 40% since going F2P, says SOE
SOE president John Smedley has said EverQuest II has seen “amazing growth” since it switched to F2P. The MMO, according to Smedley in a series of tweets, has reached a 40% increase in log-ins, 300% uppage on item sales, as well as adding “a lot of new subs.” Smedley added that all of this came while “some really good competition hit the market.”

EQII characters created before December 6 being “grandfathered” into Age of Discovery
EverQuest II executive producer Dave Georgeson has announced that all characters created before Age of Discovery’s launch will be grandfathered into the game. Now, characters previously locked when going from having a subscription to choosing the free-to-play model are now playable. Station Cash points spent to unlock the characters following the AoD release will also be refunded. Any character created on an EQII account before December 6 is eligible. More information on the matter is posted on the forums. The forum also has word that Veteran Rewards will be made available to F2P users as well. Thanks, Massively.

Lucan D’Lere is back on the throne, and that means the city’s decorators have jumped on this season’s hottest trends – black, spikes, and fire-breathing bat horses. SOE releases EQII game update 61, a revamped free trial
SOE has announced it’s improved its free trial EverQuest II by allowing folks to play the game for two weeks and experience the first seven expansions up through Destiny of Velious. Trial players will also receive a Superior Experience potion which ups character advancement for two hours, and a Green Journeyman’s Cloak which provides a 25 percent speed boost. The firm has also released Game Update 61 today, which includes a complete loot and itemization revamp, and level 60 to 90 scalable dungeons. Full patch notes can be found through here. Everquest II trailer reminds you it exists
Sony Online Entertainment has released a new trailer for, uh, Everquest II. Not for any particular reason, apparently – just in case you’re not aware of this MMORPG almost eight years and ten expansions post launch.
It’s quite pretty, actually, and a nice tribute to a series which pioneered much of the modern MMORPG. Check it out through the break. Maybe join a guild.
Everquest II’s next expansion, Age of Discovery, is due in November.
