EVE Online: 3,000 players celebrate 10th anniversary with Flight of a Thousand Rifters III
EVE Online players celebrated the 10th anniversary of the space MMO by getting together and battling it out. While there were planned events organized by CCP, players themselves organized the “Flight of a Thousand Rifters III”. The goal? To destroy Nyx Supercarriers, the largest ships in the game, only using Frigates -which are the smallest. 3,000 players participated, and you can get a look at how things went below, courtesy of Scott Manley. CCP is seeking external applicants to replace Lander; maybe you’d like to apply.

EVE Online timeline offers crash course in MMO’s history
Holy balls, check out this interactive timeline of the history of CCP’s groundbreaking MMO, EVE Online. For a game that’s really turned into a story about how people play together, it’s got a heck of a lot of backstory, and CCP plans to expand it in the future with player-authored events. It’s kind of exciting to think that new updates and even player actions could have a place on here one day.
Thanks, Massively.

Dust 514′s Battle of Caldari Prime starts tomorrow
A live event adding further integration between Dust 514 and Eve Online will take place this weekend, according to CCP. The Battle of Caldari Prime starts Friday morning and the devs predict it will be a rather large battle compared to the skirmishes which are already taking place. This will allow players to start “self-scripting” the lore and give Dust 514 players a better idea of the scope via these real-time events. Participant will earn a commemorative dropsuit, and you can watch the events unfold through Twitch. You can find out more on the Ballet for Caldari Prime through a Massively interview with senior producer Arnar Hrafn Gylfason. Dust 514 is in beta and will launch sometime this year.

DUST 514 to staff its own CSM-like player tribunal
CCP has announced plans for an official player council to promote the community’s needs, just as sister-MMO EVE Online has its Council of Stellar Management. The community organisation has not been named, but is being called the War Council, and CCP is actively seeking suggestions for “the most helpful, active and knowledgeable community members” to be its first representatives. Details are yet to be locked down, but more information is available in the announcement on the PlayStation 3 shooter’s forums.
Thanks, Polygon.

EVE Online patched to rebalance Tier 1 ships
CCP has patched EVE Online, overhauling the user interface and module system, adding the skill Armor Honeycombing, and enacting some art tweaks. That’s all well and good, but the update also rebalances nine more Tier 1 ships, so expect the usual roars of outrage over nerfing and overpowered buffing. Full patch notes are available on the EVE Online community site.
Thanks, PCGamesN.

EVE Online: players call for greater transparency, CCP says no
EVE Online players have requested the developer provide proof of wrongdoing when handing out bans, and escalate protests as high as posible. CCP has refused, saying it can’t escalate higher than its own CEO, and protesting it wields the ban hammer based on “actual empirical evidence” pulled from servers, which for various legal and technical reasons cannot be made accessible to players. The scandal at the heart of the drama involves a player from a generally “good” corporation receiving a ban for using bots and the community’s incapacity to believe he might have been cheating. It has been lovingly chronicled on Destructoid if you’d like to jump down the rabbit hole.

EVE Online: Retribution ships reception analysed
Never one to rest on its laurels, CCP has produced a thorough analysis of how the new ships introduced in EVE Online’s Retribution expansion are going down with the community. You have to like graphs and charts (ie, be an EVE Online player) to enjoy the results, but according to Massively‘s gratefully accepted summary, the Algos and Corax have been popular for PvP and the new mining frigate, the Venture, was both the most purchased and most blown up, and produced a sudden spike in harvested materials.
