Destiny won’t hit PC at launch as spreading Bungie too thin could hurt other platforms, says Osborne
Destiny is an online shooter with MMO sensibilities, so it seems like a natural fit for the PC market. However, Bungie community manager Eric Osborne has stressed that it’s not the focus right now as it would spread the studio too thin.

Bungie didn’t want to create a straight-up sci-fi shooter with Destiny, instead it wanted to create something that wouldn’t be confused with its Halo franchise, according to writer Eric Osborne, who said the team kept this in mind during the game’s development.

Destiny’s beta has been confirmed for 2014 with pre-orders, and Bungie is taking the whole thing very seriously.

“It’s my job to pay attention [and] make sure we respond to the right kinds of things and let other things that we don’t normally touch just kind of sit there. Speculation is usually generated when people are interested, so in that respect it’s good. People want to know what we’re doing and people are engaged. That’s pretty cool. We’re kind of going into a dark phase now. We’re not going to make a whole lot of noise, we just want to allow people to build anticipation.
