Call of Duty Elite services extended by three months for early adopters
Call of Duty Elite subscribers who activated their accounts on launch day, will be receiving an extra three months of service, and Activision email has stated. The extension is the firm’s way of apologizing for service outages at Modern Warfare 3′s launch. Initially, subscribers were to receive one moth free, but now they shall have three in total instead. Elite services will be offered for free when Black Ops 2 launches on November 13. Thanks, Shack.

Beachhead working on customized tablet application for CoD: Elite
Beachhead has said now that it’s finished “working furiously” on the mobile app for Call of Duty: Elite on Android and iOS, it’s next project was to start on a app for tablets. However, don’t expect it to be a port of the mobile application according to product director Noah Heller.

MW3 content drops 4, 5 and 6 out now for 360 for Elite users
Consider this a friendly reminder Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s 4th, 5th and 6th content drops are now available on Xbox 360. The content includes a new multiplayer level, and two new Spec Ops missions. The content, featuring Black Box, Negotiator and Black Ice, will be available for download on other platforms at a later date. The next drop, Content Collection #1, will release on Xbox Live on March 20 and includes all of the above as well as multiplayer maps Liberation, Piazza, and Overwatch. Clan Operations now available for Call of Duty Elite users
Activision has announced the testing phase of Clan Operations is complete and it is now live on the Elite service. Clan Operations are available for all Elite users on PS3 and Xbox 360 and enlistments are available through the Program Guide. A preview, which was released earlier this month can be found here.

Modern Warfare 3 video shows clips of Overwatch map
Activision has released a new video with glimpses of the Overwatch map which releases on Xbox 360 February 21 for Elite premium subscribers. After the exclusivity period on 360 ends, it will be released for PC and PS3. Overwatch takes place in a construction site atop a New York City skyscraper, and includes two levels “in a near symmetrical layout,” with the central bridge and side routes open to attack from multiple angles. ActiBlizz: Diablo 3 to launch Q2, new CoD “this year”
Activision Blizzard has released its full-year 2011 and Q4 financials, and has said to expect Diablo III during Q2 this year, which would place it somewhere between March and June, and a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise with “meaningful innovation” is expected this year.

MW3′s Overwatch releasing on Xbox 360 February 21, Clan Operations preview
Activision has announced Overwatch as the next content drop for Modern Warfare 3 and it will be made available first to Elite Premium Members on the Xbox Live February 21. After the exclusivity period on 360 ends, it will be released for PC and PS3. Call of Duty: Elite “100k Day” starts tomorrow, lots of prizes
The Call of Duty Elite team has announced it’s “putting Vengeful Beast’s prizes in Beast Mode” tomorrow, January 20. Called “100k Day”, those who log onto Elite can participate in matches were those with the highest total kills in Team Deathmatch could win rather nice prize. The first place winner will receive a 2012 Jeep Wrangler: MW3 Edition, second place gets the Gamer’s Entertainment Bundle, third place a Canon EOS T3i Digital SLR Camera Kit, and fourth place will receive an iPad bundle. Reminder: Today is the last day to register for Elite’s Founder program
Just a quick reminder to all that today is the last day to become a “Founder” of Act vision’s Call of Duty Elite service. Those who choose the Founder option will be handed an exclusive title, weapon camouflage, and emblem for Modern Warfare 3. Those who opt-in will also have access to a private discussion group, and will receive 500 XP for your clan, as well as “exclusive competitions and prizes that only Founders can enter.”
Founder status is permanent whether you renew next year or not, and will run you $50 annually. Those who purchase the Hardened Edition of Modern Warfare 3 and have yet to enter the attached voucher granting Founder can still do so, despite today’s deadline. Thanks, Shack.

PSA: Elite’s Friday Night Fights start this week, service at 95%, will be stable by Thursday
Activision has sent out a friendly reminder to all Modern Warfare 3 players letting them know that Call of Duty: Elite’s Friday Night Fights starts on November 25. Executive produced by Ridley Scott and Tony Scott’s RSA Films, and director RJ Cutler, real life rivals will go against one another in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer matches. The inaugural episode pits teams from the US Army vs US Navy. Friday Night Fights starts at 12.00pm PST on Elite and can be accessed through the premium end of the service’s program guide. Following each initial broadcast, a replay will be available via streaming.
The firm has also said the service should be stable by Thursday, to prepare for the holiday weekend. Currently, overall average user functionality is at around 95%. According to Daniel Suarez, VP of production at Activision, speaking to VentureBeat: “We are where we should have been at launch. It should be an enjoyable holiday weekend for people.”

Activision plans to have Elite “up and running” by December 1
Acttivision has said it plans to have Call of Duty: Elite “up and running” properly by December 1. Speaking with G4, Daniel Suarez said the target date is rather specific, in that it’s the same length of the service extension premium subscribers were handed as an apology for experiencing Elite’s issues at launch. “They kind of have to bear with us while we bring this all back up,” the VP of production said, “but for us it’s literally ‘give us those couple weeks, we’re giving those to you for free’ and come December 1, the goal is that we’ll have everything up and running.’”

GameStop sold 600,000 Elite memberships, says company president
During a call to investors today discussing the firm’s financial results, GameStop resident Tony Bartel announced that Call of Duty Elite subscriptions helped pad the firm’s digital sales growth for the quarter.
“In the case of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, we worked closely with Activision, Sony and Microsoft to pre-order and deliver nearly 600,000 instances of the Modern Warfare Elite DLC to date,” Bartel told investors and analysts. “This places the launch of Elite as one of our top 10 launches of the year so far.” Earlier today, GameStop reported 59% growth in digital sales year-on-year, with console digital sales up 63% and PC digital sales up 51%.
