Earth Defense Force, assemble! Somehow or other we are under attack by giant insect aliens again, and as usual everyone else is uselessly dying. Cue the arrival of Air Raider, who appears with a Metal Gear Solid homage to save the day. The recently delayed Earth Defense Force 2025 is headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2014.

Earth Defense Force has been pushed back from a planned launch this year to a February 2014 release. To put a positive spin on it, it’s now only 11 years early instead of 12.

Earth Defence Force 2025 – otherwise known as Earth Defence Force 4 – may have been moved to July, but you can still watch a lovely trailer for it full of giant bugs to squash. The game lands on PS3 and Xbox 360 in Japan July, and is without a western release date at present.

D3Publisher’s Earth Defense Force 2025 is set for release next year. The game will be out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and will see players defend the earth from giant insect aliens. GameInformer has some screens which show that the aliens are literally huge bugs, likes ants and spiders, and not Starship Trooper alien insect hybrids.

The sequel to Earth Defence 3 will also have new weapons and some impressive looking vehicles, more levels and include online multiplayer for the first time in the series.
