Medal of Honor pre-order open, game releasing “fall”, site launched

medalofhonor

EA’s put the Medal of Honor site and pre-order. You can only book it in the US at the moment.

The publisher’s also confirmed the EALA/DICE shooter for a fall launch on all formats.

Take a look at the site. There’s a great quote on there from the Tier 1 School of Killing Machines.

“Most run from the sound of gunfire,” says Cowboy the Beard.

“I run toward it.”

mercenaries

A supposedly leaked video of Mercenaries Inc., a multiplayer Mercenaries titles and the only surviving project from the now defunct Pandemic Studios, can be found after the break.

It’s being described as “multiplayer sandbox game,” and is apparently in pre-production at EA LA. The only staffers to make it out of Pandemic have been moved down to LA.

Hit it. Thanks, Bitmob.

Update: It was canned this month, apparently.

Online play for Command & Conquer hits at around 40%

candc43

EALA’s Sam Decker has said that while approximately 40 percent of Command & Conquer players have gone online, it will never hit complete saturation as a large section of the player base prefers solo play.

“Right now the majority of our players play single player, but when they’re done with the game about 40 percent go on and play online,” he told the site. “So I think you need to respect both of those – and first-person shooters have the same thing. The vast majority of people would finish the campaign, and then about 40 percent of players would go online.”

With Command & Conquer 4, the company is doing its best to try and motivate a higher number of players to take their game online.

“The consoles have done a great job of online… Xbox Live, you can collect everything you’ve ever done, and it’s super-easy to connect – just give us your line and your accounts and go from there. We need to get to that level of accessibility for people [on the PC] and find more reasons for people to play.

“When you think about the reasons people play, there are so many – there are very competitive people, there are people who are co-operative and want to play with their friends, there are people who are collectors who want every achievement and award… and everybody has different things to motivate them to go online, and the question is, can you provide what that person wants?

“So far we’ve provided some of those elements, but not all – and that’s what we’re going to try and do.”

Red Alert 3 gets Allied and Soviet co-op movies

After the break. The game looks fantastic from where we’re sitting, but we’re sitting in a place where Tom Clancy’s EndWar’s pretty much amazing, so we’re going to have to be properly nukified by an RA3 playtest to be diverting our strategy attention this Christmas, if we’re being honest.

Take a look.

Tiberium canned for “not meeting standards”

tiberium.jpg

According to this Kotaku story, EA’s stopped work on C&C-based FPS Tiberium because, essentially, it wasn’t up to scratch.

“EA has suspended work on Tiberium effective immediately,” said Mariam Sughayer, EA spokesperson. “The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label. A lower quality game is not in the best interest of the consumers and would not succeed in this market.

“This decision will result in some individuals being released. However, EA will make every effort to place talented people on other projects. Eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement support.”
