Star Fox creator calls Wii a toy, says Miyamoto does as he likes

Star Fox creator Dylan Cuthbert has told G4 what he thinks about Wii and Miyamoto, and has said he’s not interesting in making another Star Fox game, especially for Wii – which he called a toy.
Even went so far as to say Miyamoto doesn’t care how core gamers feel about changes to Star Fox and just does as he pleases.
Youch.
First off, Cuthbert said a Wii version of Star Fox wouldn’t work because of the controls.
“The Wii controller would be a bit too hard to use. I don’t know… maybe the new one [MotionPlus]. Maybe that’d be more fun to play with. I don’t know. The Wii is a bit more of a toy, I think.”
Then went on to say that changes from aerial combat to tank combat were not his idea, but Miyamoto’s.
“That’s all Miyamoto. Whenever I speak to Miyamoto about Star Fox, he says it’s not meant to be just a flying, sci-fi shooting game. It’s meant to be anything we want to think up,” said Cuthbert.
“But the core fans don’t want that, but Miyamoto doesn’t really care about that. He wants to make what he wants to make, so he just goes ahead and gets it done.”
More over on G4.

PixelJunk Eden Encore – new stages shown
![]()
Dylan Cuthbert’s just upped a ton of information on PixelJunk Eden Encore on the PS Blog, including shots of the game’s new stages.
“We have added five whole new stages, each one choc-a-bloc full of ideas and gimmicks,” said the developer.
“We also designed five brand new backgrounds for them (each background for a garden is programmed uniquely just for that garden’s style – just in case you hadn’t noticed that in the original), and Baiyon went away and created five brilliant new tracks of music to match it all up.”
Full thing through there. There’s no set date for the pack as yet.

It’s mesmerising. Watch it.

Q Games’ Dylan Cuthbert’s confirmed that PixelJunk Eden Encore will release next month.
“Eden Encore will be coming out very soon in April,” said the developer on the PS Blog.
“Get ready for zero gravity, mirror worlds, all new music from Baiyon, and we’ve added something extra special at the end which is a Big Secret(tm) and is a present to all the fans.”
Cuthbert’s giving a talk on Eden Encore at GDC this week, but at the same time as the Kojima keynote, unfortunately.

PixelJunk 1-4 for GDC? Not so, says Cuthbert
![]()
Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert’s slapped down talk of a showing of the next full PixelJunk game at GDC next week, saying the title he’ll be demoing in the PS Blog lounge is, in fact, Eden Encore.
“Everyone seems to think we are showing PixelJunk 1-4 next week at GDC, but it ain’t true,” the developer said on his Twitter.
“Eden Encore will be there in its full glory tho.”
Cuthbert will showing the game next Thursday at SCEA’s W suite.

PSP PixelJunk Monsters to have “50% more content”
In an interview with Core Gamers, Q-Games founder Dylan Cuthbert has revealed that the PSP version of PixelJunk Monsters is to contain “50 percent or more new content”.
To quantify, that’s probably “a lot” of new stuff.
There’s no solid date on the latest outing in the strategy series, but it is planned for this year.
Thanks, Destructoid.

Pixel Junk Eden patch on its way
Q-Game’s Dylan Cuthbert has told us via PSBlog that a patch for Pixel Junk Eden will be released tomorrow on the US PSN.
As for what it fixes:
We’ve gone ahead and fixed and added a few things to try and get as many people to play Eden as possible, as it really is a remarkable game…if I do say so myself. I simply want as many people as possible to experience it in full (if only we could release it for free and still make a living like some Star Trek-like future).
Europe gets it a little later. “Stay tuned,” apparently.

PixelJunk Eden Tropies and YouTube system detailed
In a post on the US PlayStation Blog, Q-Games boss Dylan Cuthbert has outlined details of PixelJunk Eden’s Trophies, and given a decent insight into how the game’s YouTube uploading system will work.
“The YouTube upload feature is going to revolutionize how people share tips,” he said. “Up until now it has been limited to people with video capture equipment, but from now on, anyone can record their game and upload it directly to YouTube from within the game!
“It is as simple as pushing one button to start and one button to stop and upload, and there is no affect on the gameplay thanks to the power of the PS3 and its abundance of SPU processors.”
Loads more through the link. The game’s almost done, apparently.
