Dust: An Elysian Tail could release on Steam as early as next month
Dust: An Elysian Tail could be released on Steam as early as next month, according to developers Dean Dodrill and Alex Kain during their “Making of Dust” PAX East panel. Dust 2 was also teased but nothing further on the matter was revealed. The game is playable at the Microsoft booth this weekend during the event. Thanks, NeoGAF.

Dust: An Elysian Tail to be playable at PAX East
The winning entry in 2009′s Dream.Build.Play competition, Dust: An Elysian Tail, will be playable at Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade booth at PAX East next weekend. The news was announced via the developer’s Twitter account. The game should be completed before the end of the first half of 2012, and more updates on the title are to be revealed in the months leading up to release on XBLA. Registrations now open for Microsoft’s annual indie game development contest Dream, Build, Play
Registration has opened for Microsoft’s annual indie game development community contest Dream, Build, Play. Registrants can submit games created for Xbox 360 using the firm’s XNA development tools and anyone over the age of 14 can enter their submission into contest between May 15 and June 12. A new category has been added this year for Windows Phone and finalists will be able to show their creations off at PAX 2012 later this year.

GDC: Microsoft unveils new dev tools, shows blue 360

Microsoft just lifted the lid on a range of new 360 dev initiatives at GDC, as well as showing a blue, XNA-branded 360 dev machine. Do want.
A third Dream-Build-Play design competition has been announced. beginning April 6. The last two produced games like CarneyVale: Showtime, Weapon of Choice, and The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai.
For the 2009 competition, Microsoft is offering a cash prize and the opportunity to win an Xbox Live Arcade publishing contract.
In addition, XNA Game Studio 3.1 is being readied. New features include Avatar support, video playback, and support for Xbox Live parties.
Professional developers (as in, not those making Community games) will also find new tools for downloadable content support.
