Square-Enix financials: ¥13.7 billion loss, cites ‘competitive’ console market
Square-Enix has posted its financial report for the financial year ended March 31st, highlighting a ¥13.7 billion loss amid what it has called a ‘competitive’ console market. The company will now look to the PC, mobile and tablet space with greater focus to reverse the trend.

Dragon Quest X Wii U gets rousing new trailer
Dragon Quest X received a rather lovely new Wii U trailer as part of today’s Nintendo Direct Japan presentation. You can get our rundown of the presentation here, including new Pikmin 3 and Game & Wario information. The below clip shows off plenty of player-created characters, enemies, and many of the MMO’s colourful environments.

Dragon Quest X Wii U beta set for February in Japan
Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online will go into beta in February, Square announced this morning during its Nintendo Direct presentation. Beta vouchers will be included in the Premium Set editions of Wii U systems in Japan. Due to Wii and Wii U players sharing the same server, character data from Wii can be imported over to Wii U. Players will also be able to create items such as furniture, create parties, and customize their characters. Dragon Quest X will launch in Japan next year. Thanks, Gematsu.

Dragon Quest X Wii U will receive a live demo session at TGS, courtesy of Square-Enix. The floor show booth has been listed as “Dragon Quest X Wii U Demonstration Stage.” by Square-Enix, and the session will be hosted by the game’s producer Yousuke Saito.

Dragon Quest X Nintendo Direct announced for July 30
Nintendo has announced it will host another Nintendo Direct broadcast focused Dragon Quest X July 30 at 8pm Tokyo time, or 12pm UK. The free Dragon Quest X app will be released on August 22 in Japan, and available via a download code included with the Wii title. The game will include a Double StreetPass function. New trailer and beta stats released for Dragon Quest X
A new Dragon Quest X video is posted below the break. The MMO-like RPG from Square launches in Japan on August and a Wii U version is in the works as well. Andriasang has alos posted some stats for the beta, which has seen 17,000 participants. By the end of the beta, Square hopes to have had between 30,000 and 50,000 testers. Thanks, AGB.
