According to Andriasang, Toyama tweeted that premium DLC will turn up for the game at some point, but didn’t have any further details to share.

A fan asked the developer if he would make a sequel if given the opportunity, and Toyama responded that he would love to keep his current team and do so.

Gravity Rush released earlier this month in Japan under the title Gravity Daze. It’s expected to release alongside the Vita on February 22 – or February 23 in Australia – and looks amazing. Watch this promo trailer a few times while you wait.

According to Andriasang‘s translation of an Impress Watch report from the Taipei Game Show, director Motomu Toriyama was asked to explain the “To Be Continued” message at the end of Final Fantasy XIII-2′s main story.

Toriyama said the message refers to two things – the many secret Paradox endings players can unlock through side-content, and plans to continue releasing DLC.

Asked what the 1st Production Department is up to now the game has shipped, Toriyama said the team is working on the afore-mentioned DLC, including an upcoming Lightning story chapter.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is available now on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Flashback Map Pack #1 – a leading name if I ever saw one – contains upgraded versions of the Fort, Lost City, Cave and Sanctuary maps from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Naughty Dog apparently spent months giving these a bit of spit and polish, adding new lighting, particle, and atmospheric effects – there’s rain, snow, ice, spring vegetation, and even an aurora in the night sky.

The pack has been available on the European PSN since mid-January, and the trailer suggests it’s now accessible from the US side, too. It’ll set you back £6.49/€7.99/AUD $12.95.

“There is more DLC items coming that we’ll reveal when the time is appropriate,” producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed during a video posted on the Square Enix Blog.

“We’re not just planning boss battles or costumes but also planning episodic DLC items that will hopefully expand on the universe and the gameplay for Final Fantasy XIII-2.”

Famitsu leaks yesterday claimed Square Enix plans to release “secret story” missions DLC, possibly including some focusing on Lightning, the protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII, much loved by fans but with a backseat role in the sequel.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 31 in the US, and February 3 in Europe. Watch the full interview with Kitase below.

The report comes courtesy of Andriasang – but not from one of its usual, trusted sources – and claims a new piece of Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC will allow players to recruit Lightning as a party member after defeating her in a coliseum match.

Last year, Square Enix said outright that Lightning would turn up in coliseum matches, but as well as the ability to call Lightning into battle, the DLC will apparently include “secret story episodes” for her.

The leak also mentions other downloadable coliseum matches, with classic Final Fantasy bosses.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out now in Japan, and arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on January 31 in the US and February 3 in Europe. Square Enix has said it hopes to correct the much-criticised linearity of Final Fantasy XIII, but the first game’s protagonist, Lightning, plays a less central role, to the disappointment of fans.

According to a calendar on the Call of Duty website, players can expect ten new maps, six Spec Ops missions, and two new modes over the next nine months.

The first two drops – Liberation and Piazza maps – arrived on Xbox Live today.

The schedule, listed in full below, applies to Elite subscribers only; plebs have to wait for sporadic releases at a later date. All drops will launch first on Xbox 360, and then appear on PC and PlayStation 3 after an exclusivity period.

  • February: New map
  • March: New map, two new Spec Ops missions
  • April: Two new maps
  • May: New map, new Spec Ops mission
  • June: New map, new Spec Ops mission, new game mode
  • July: Two new maps

The Arkham Bundle brings together the Nightwing Bundle Pack, Robin Bundle Pack and the Arkham City Skins Pack. It goes for 1,200 MS Points, $19.95 on PC and will arrive soon on the PlayStation Network for AUD $23.95 or local equivalent.

The latest patch has been described as free DLC, as it also includes Heroes and Heralds, a new mode exclusive to the Ultimate version of Marvel vs Capcom 3, in which players can join the heroes or villains of the combined universes. You can collect and equip special Ability cards which enhance character’s abilities, and you can take your customised builds into online play to give them a real test.

Shoryuken reports the patch also corrects a number of glitches, from the notorious Reverse World to Vergil’s hovering to infinite tech throws. Hit the link for a run down of patched glitches discovered so far.

The next piece of premium DLC, on the other hand, has suffered a delay. Capcom Unity reports the Anicent Warrior costume pack has been pushed back to March 6, in order to remove Magneto’s alternate costume – likely due to complaints from the Spanish royal family.

Finally, below you’ll find a trailer for the Vita version of the game, which releases alongside the console in February. The trailer takes in Vita-specific functions, namely touch controls; using your Vita as a PS3 controller to utilise the touch controls there; Heroes and Heralds and Spectator modes; online play; replays; content sharing through Near; and DLC sharing with your PlayStation 3.

Car Pack 2 will go for $3.99 or local equivalent, and adds the 2011 Mini Cooper S, 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R, and the 2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35.

Another new piece of DLC, the Family Upgrade, allows players to unlock already-purchased DLC content for all users on a particular PlayStation 3 – not just the one who purchased it. It’s free, too – good news for siblings et al.

If you bought any of the past DLC packs, you’ll be also be rewarded with a Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards to use in-game.

Along with the DLC, Polyphony has also whipped up a new title update, bringing the game to version 2.02. The US PS Blog offers the following sample of some of the tweaks included in the patch, but it’s worth noting that the patch also offers a free Toyota FT-86 2012 for your collection.

  • Users can now change wheels on Standard cars
  • The settings sheets will include a new ‘copy’ feature
  • In GT Auto, players will be able to see how the oil changes, aerodynamic parts, engine overhauls, and racing modifications will affect performance points and engine power, before and after their application
  • Free coupons have been added that allow you to wash cars, change oil, overhaul your engine, or refresh the car body in GT Auto (10 coupons will be distributed for free to each of those who have downloaded the 2.02 update)
  • Pressing the Square button in the car coupon selection screen of the Car Delivery will now allow you to exchange all car coupons at once, rather than doing one at a time
  • In screens where the [Garage] and [Driver List] buttons are displayed in the A/B Spec events, Special Events, and Seasonal Events, pressing the Square button will now show the [Garage], and pressing the Triangle button will bring up the drivers list
    In My Lounge, the room settings will feature a new ‘Max. number of participants’ setting
  • In the event selection screen of seasonal events, there are now ☆(star) marks that show the number of Gold Trophies attained in each event
  • Improved racing sound effects
  • Elements of the steering assist controls (used when using certain controllers on Racing Karts) have been tweaked

Due on December 14, The Stranger’s Dream features the following:

  • The Stranger’s Dream: a new fully narrated Who Knows Where sequence, bigger and more challenging than the others. You’ll gain a bit more insight into Rucks’ backstory as well as the history of Caelondia if you can survive this fight.
  • Score Attack Mode: a challenging new way to play through the story! You start at level one with all Spirits and Idols unlocked. Your combat performance is rated for efficiency, and all areas are repeatable.
  • No-Sweat Mode: for those who just want to experience the story of Bastion, this mode provides unlimited chances to carry on from where you left off if you’re defeated in battle.
  • The Steam and XBLA versions of the game will also contain new Leaderboards for the Stranger’s Dream and Score Attack Mode.

Interestingly, some of this content isn’t accessible straight out the boxboth Stranger’s Dream and Score Attack Mode are New Game Plus content, meaning you need to have finished the core game at least once.

The DLC will be free to Steam and general PC users, but will cost 80 MS Points on Xbox Live Arcade. Supergiant apologises for the discrepancy, stating that Microsoft’s policies dictate it can’t push the new content out as a free patch.
