Disney Infinity shots show off the Pirates of the Caribbean playset
Disney Infinity shots have been released showing off the Pirates of the Caribbean playset. A look at the the figurines is also below, each showing off a cartoonish version of Jack Sparrow. The Gobo developed playset comes with ready-made adventures and the assets can be used to create your own adventures in Toy Box mode. Disney Infinity is due in August on 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360. A trailer for it can be watched here.

Disney Infinity dev diary discusses creating the Toy Box
Disney Infinity has a new developer diary available in which Avalanche Software talks about the game’s Toy Box Mode and the inspirations behind it. It allows users to use the VR toys to create their own setting and story using the character toys they have purchased. It sounds really fun. Disney Infinity is due in August on 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360.

Disney Infinity pre-orders now open
Now that it has a solid if later than expected release date, Disney Infinity is available for pre-order at various retailers. The toys-to-life affair is pretty pricey – as well as the game, Infinity Base and figures included in the Starter Pack, you’re probably going to want some extra figures and power discs – but Best Buy, Gamestop and Amazon are all offering various bonuses on pre-orders, which should help. Disney Infinity is due in August on 3DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U, and will be supported by mobile apps.

Disney Infinity just got more expensive thanks to accessories
Disney Infinity is going to set back parents a lot of money. Earlier this week we reported that the Cars playset add-on will cost £39.99, and that individual figures come in at the £8.99-and-up mark. Now, manufacturer PDP has unveiled a range of very expensive accessories as well.

Disney Infinity: Studio Gobo produced Pirates playset
Writing on its Facebook page, British developer Studio Gobo has laid claim to development of the Pirates of the Caribbean playset in Disney Infinity, working alongside Avalanche Software. The Pirates playset is one of just three announced for the toys-to-life sandbox’s northern summer launch, but Cars and Monsters University efforts have been confirmed. Gobo hasn’t produced any titles as sole developer but has worked with Ruffian Games, Microsoft Game Studios, Soho Productions and Codemasters in a collaborative role.
