In July, the Australian Classificaiton Board awarded Digital Extremes’ The Darkness II an MA15+ rating – and then did it again in December. A 2K spokesperson told MCV Pacific the game had to be re-classified after the addition of a sex scene. No content has been cut or edited beyond the new addition, but the game now carries an additional content warning. The Darkness II is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early February.

2K’s released small teasers of three characters that will form part of The Darkness II’s Vendettas mode. The videos (via Evil Avatar), which feature Jimmy, Shoshanna and Inugami, give a brief look at the game’s recently-announced co-op mode. I got to try the Digital Extremes’ shooter a while back in London, and it’s looking pretty sharp. Look for more on that later this week.
The Darkness II launches on February 7 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC.

“I think it’s a progression that everyone’s going to get to eventually. I’m not trying to say we’re ahead of the curve or anything like that, that’s just the choice we made for this game. I think story is the final frontier for games. We’re kind of getting there tech-wise. Mechanics-wise it’s cool that we’re innovating but it’s still in the basic same themes. Digital Extreme showed off a new trailer for their upcoming title Star Trek during the Sony E 3 press conference. The trailer shows pre-alpha gameplay footage from the title and gives you a glimpse at its world. It also contains some great music.
Based on the JJ Abrams film, Star Trek is slated for a 2012 release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, with exclusive content destined for Sony’s console. Watch the video after the break.
