DICE working on various Battlefield 3 fixes, PC update due tomorrow
DICE has confirmed it’s working on a bevy of fixes for Battlefield 3 via a post on the official Battlefield Blog.

New Battlefield 3 console update coming today
EA’s to release a new update for the PS3 and 360 versions of Battlefield 3 today, fixing exploits and VOIP support. Mortars won’t be available to deploy in spawn areas, while the M-Com defender ribbon will be easier to achieve and tons more. Game Revolution has all the details.

Battlefield 3 DLC announce expected next week
During the publisher’s quarterly financial report, EA’s Peter Ausnit said new DLC for Battlefield 3 would be detailed at a New York event next week. Battlefield 3 released in October 2011 and is yet to receive any DLC beyond pre-order and special edition content, some of which was later unlocked for all players following a timed exclusive. EA claims the shooter now holds 24% of its genre market.

EA taking steps to remove “faulty” BF3 anti-punkbuster bans
EA has said it’s currently in the midst of taking steps over lifting bans deemed “faulty” following a group of hackers dropped the suspensions as part of a hack in protest to anti-cheat program Punkbuster.

Kertz exits Battlefield 3 team for unrevealed project
Core gameplay designer Alan Kertz has left the Battlefield 3 development team. Fellow designers Gustav Halling and Tim Kjell are among those who remain on board ongoing support for the shooter. Kertz has not detailed his next project, but has reaffirmed the change does not entail a departure form DICE.

DICE introduces new anti-cheating measures for Battlefield 3
DICE has new measures to make it easier for cheaters to be banned from Battlefield 3, the developer has said. You can now rat-out the less-than-honest through Battlelog, by visiting the profile pages of offenders, clicking on a yellow triangle then describing in detail how they cheated. The introduction of the new measures follows a recent wave of stat resets and player bannings.

Battlefield 3 tweaks inbound thanks to player feedback
Core gameplay designer Alan Kertz has begun an overhaul of Battlefield 3′s accessories. A few days ago, the developer posted a lengthy detailing of his proposed changes on Reddit, seeking – and receiving – critique and suggestions. No ETA on the patch.

Trio of DICE developers quit studio for Ngmoco Sweden
DICE developers Wille Wintertidh, Malte Hildingsson and Torbjorn Lædre – the latter two of which worked on Battlefield 3 – have left the firm for Ngmoco Sweden. The new hires were announced by Ngmoco Sweden manager Ben Cousins, who left EA in March last year. The former DICE developers will be joining Tony Davis, former game director on Crytek’s gladiator Kinect game Ryse, to work on Ngmoco’s social gaming platform Mobage. Thanks, Develop.

DICE discusses Back to Karkand, BF2′s Dragon Valley in latest edition of PWNED
When developing Back to Karkand for Battlefield 3, DICE said that while looking at some of the popular maps from Battlefield 2 for inclusion in the pack, one it wanted to add but couldn’t was Dragon Valley.

Physical Warfare Pack for BF3 out now for PC, 360
EA’s launched the Physical Warfare Pack for Battlefield 3 for all PC and Xbox 360 owners who didn’t get it as a pre-order bonus. The pack, which comes with DAO-12 shotgun, flechette ammo for the shotgun, a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle and the Type 88 Light Machine Gun. PS3 owners had previously gotten hold of the content.
For 360 owners, it’s available the in-game store, while PC owners can get it from Battlelog, both for no extra charge. More on the news on the Battlefield blog.

Possible Battlefield 2142 sequel hint spotted in BF 3
Fansite BF3Blog notes the appearance of the number “2143″ stencilled on a wall in Battlefield 3′s Wake Island map. The site theorises that DICE may be teasing its next major release as a sequel to Battlefield 2142, which was itself teased by similar hints in Battlefield 2 map packs. Or it might be having a laugh. Battlefield 2142 was released in 2006 and is DICE’s only foray into future combat to date; creative director Lars Gustavsson has admitted to a soft spot for the game’s world.

EA holding BF3 gameplay community contest
’1337′ at Battlefield 3? EA reckons you might be, hence why it’s throwing a contest for all BF3 players. Known as the ‘Only in Battlefield 3′ challenge, players are asked to upload HD gameplay of awesome gameplay moments taken from the shooter. The winner of the challenge will get a holiday for two to Stockholm and be able to meet developers DICE. There’s an example of some of these moments in action below the break. BF3 360 gets Back to Karkand, new title update date
Major’s announced the release of the first map pack for Battlefield 3 on 360, Back to Karkand. The pack, which has been available for the past week on PS3 as part of a exclusivity deal, will set you back 1200 MS points on 36dizzle. A new title update will accompany the release of Karkand.
