Diablo 3 devs explain why you’ll probably die a lot
Diablo 3 as you know, will contain difficulty modes such as Normal, Nightmare, Hell and the newly added Inferno mode. To give you an idea of the difficulty these modes produce for the player, Blizzard has released a new video explaining the matter, but sadly never once mention just why they feel the need to be so sadistic. We’re joking, obviously. Some people like the challenge. Diablo 3 is slated for a Q2 release this year, which would put it on store shelves sometime between the end of March and May. Thanks, GameFront.

Blizzard hands out 100,000 Diablo III beta invites in the US
Have you checked whether you have a Dibalo III beta key languishing in your inbox lately? If not, you may wish to check, because Blizzard has sent out 100,000 more invites in North America. So, if a lovely Battle.net notice hasn’t arrived, be sure to log into your account just in case. However, be careful as well, because Blizzard has said with this large wave of invites, there could be an increase in the number of phishing attempts – so be sure the notice you receive in the mail is indeed from Blizzard before clicking on any links. More invites after this round will be handed out in the future.

Latest Blizzard Insider talks a bit about Diablo III’s upcoming beta
In the latest issue of Blizzard Insider, Blizzard has let lose on a few Diablo III beta details, most of which are already known thanks to a press event not long ago, but there’s some interesting bits in there as well. Pity these interesting tidbits don’t announce a date for the beta. It’s rumored to be sometime in September, with the firm itself confirming during its recent investors call that it would happen during the quarter. Thanks, EvilAvatar.

Diablo II patch 1.13 now live on the test server

It’s hard to believe that Diablo II is nine years-old, isn’t it? But what is not hard to believe is that Blizzard is still supporting the title, and continues to release patches and content for the super dungeon game.
Today’s a prime example of this support, as patch 1.13 has been released on the public test servers. It includes the addition of character respecialization, and you get this free opportunity once you have completed the Den of Evil quest along with a new challenge included in the “Hell” difficulty mode.
“Players of Hell Difficulty Realm games are hereby warned once again, that a series of new and challenging tests await you! The answer lies within Diablo’s Bosses, which span across the world from the Den of Evil to the Throne of Destruction” revealed the patch notes.
The usual list of bug fixes, class changes and balancing were also noted, and if you want to try it out before it goes live (no date yet) , log into the ClassicBeta through Battle.net when starting up the game.
You can read the full notes through a Q&A through here.
Thanks, Eurogamer.

Bill Roper likes the look of original Diablo better than Diablo III

Bill Roper, design director for Cryptic, says that he prefers the “darker, more realistic” Diablo to the “Blizzard interpretation” of Diablo III.
Speaking in an interview with VideoGamer.com, the ex-Blizzard North exec said he does not think that the new Diablo looks bad as such, just that he liked the more gritty version better.
“You know, I liked the darker, grittier. I liked the differences in art style, to be honest. So, I think I would personally, from a player standpoint, prefer that.
“I think that one of the things that we always tried to get across was that Diablo was Gothic fantasy, and I think there was just a need that was put in there from the visuals that I didn’t necessarily get,” he continued.
“I got it from the architecture and to a degree from the character design but not the feeling of the world. I can’t say that I dislike it. I didn’t look at it and go, ‘Oh my God that’s horrible.’ But I looked at it and went, it’s not really… To me, as a player, it just didn’t really ring with Diablo.”
Say it ain’t so, Bill. More through there.
