Deadline was working on three games before bankruptcy

Faith and a .45

Deadline Games was working on three games when it declared bankruptcy in May, according to director Søren Lund.

Two were downloadable titles for consoles set to launch this summer, and the other was an original IP.

Lund wouldn’t talk too much regarding the unannounced title, due to the backlash he received while courting publishes for Faith and a .45.

“We took a chance with Faith and a .45 by letting the public know about the game before we signed a deal,” he told 1UP at the Nordic Game Conference in Sweden last month.

“And not every publisher is happy to do that, because they want to be in full control of when things get released to the press.”

Rumour: Deadline Games may be aptly named

faithanda45a

This Digital Battle post is claiming Deadline Games may be facing bankruptcy.

The developer put Faith and a .45 on hold to work on Watchmen, but is apparently desperately seeking a new project, one it didn’t find at GDC.

No idea how solid this is. Thanks, Joystiq.

Faith and a .45 development grinds to a halt

Faith and a .45

Deadline’s confirmed that Faith and a .45 development has come to a screeching halt.

Cessation of work on the game was rumored last week.

Blame it on the upcoming Watchmen: The End is Nigh, slated for a March 6 release along with the film, according to developer boss CEO Chris Mottes.

“During the past year our team has been fully occupied with the development of Watchmen: The End is Nigh,” he said.

“We are proud to work on such a high quality online product and excited by how well it has been received by the press already,” said Mottes.

Mottes said that while development of the Great Depression era game was indeed stalled, work does continue on a ”negotiation level”.

faithanda45a.jpg

According to this PS3Attitude report, shooter Faith and a .45 has been put on hold thanks to a lack of publisher.

The game was shown around this time last year with a view to securing a deal at GDC 08.

Total Overdose outfit Deadline Games is responsible for it. Watch the video after the link. Is this really unpublishable?

Watchmen is prequel, has two playable characters

According to this 1UP preview, the now-announced episodic Watchmen game is a prequel story that contains two playable characters, Rorschach and Nite Owl. From the piece:

Watchmen (the game) dials back the years to when the game’s dual playable characters, Rorschach and Nite Owl, are younger, trimmer, more physically fit versions of their older graphic-novel counterparts. In the demo we saw behind closed doors at E3, both Rorschach and Nite Owl were playable, either as a single-player game with an A.I. partner (whichever character you’re not playing is controlled by the CPU) or as a co-op splitscreen venture. Since the game takes place before superheroes were outlawed in the graphic novel’s timeline, it allows both characters to do what they do best – fight crime.

Faith and a .45 teaser gets gun-ho

This looks cool. Developer by Total Overdose outfit Deadline Games, Faith and a .45 is a co-op-heavy affair based on characters Luke and Ruby, set against a backdrop of America’s Great Depression. Have a gander. No release date for it yet, but it’ll be playable at GDC at the end of this month for “selected publishers”. No one’s signed it yet, but we doubt that’s going to be an ongoing state of affairs from the look of this.
