New Dead Space 3 screenshots have been posted on the game’s website, and we’ve made you a lovely gallery filled with the shots below. They are mostly of men in spacesuits, but there are a couple with Necromorphs as well as Issac dallying around with zero gravity. There may be a couple shots in there you’e seen before, and if so, consider it a refresher. Dead Space is out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in February.

Dead Space 3 producer Steve Papoutsis has said those who aren’t interested in playing the co-op portion of the game will only miss out on the social aspect, not the storyline, and certainly not the scares.

Dead Space 3 has a video available featuring 15 minutes of gameplay which is walked through by the the creative director and senior audio artist. It’s basically a gameplay video of Eudora. We’ve not seen it before, despite the date on the video. And it appears not many other have either going by viewer count. If you’ve seen it before, just consider it a refresher course. Dead Space 3 is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2013.

Dead Space 3 will allow you to craft weapons. EA said as much during its gamescom press conference earlier this week, but you can see it in action for yourself in the video below. Players will gather raw materials and tool parts to create the perfect weapon, and fans of the game can enter a contest called Tools of Terror on www.deadspace.com by submitting “dream weapon designs”. The winner will have their creation and likeness added to the game. Dead Space 3 is out February 5 in the US and February 8 in the UK on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

A second Dead Space novel will be published worldwide on October 2, sci-fi and fantasy publisher Tor Books has announced. Dead Space: Catalyst is the second novel by author B.K. Evenson to be set in EA’s Marker-obsessed universe following 2010′s Dead Space: Martyr. Like its predecessor, Catalyst will be set prior to the events of the first Dead Space video game, this time following the story of two brothers who cross paths with the EarthGov organisation as the threat of the Marker begins to unfold. EA Labels president Frank Gibeau has said the firm doesn’t want to “piss off our fans” by taking Dead Space 3 too far from its horror origins, but in the same vein, the game needs to be more “broadly appealing” to the masses.

Visceral VP and GM Steve Papoutsis has said there aren’t any plans to release Dead Space 3 on Wii U – for the moment. Speaking on Twitter, when asked by a fan, Papoutsis didn;t go as far to say never to expect the game on Nintendo’s new console, just that it was “not currently in the plan.” Things can change eventually, or not. We’ll just have to wait and see. Game’s out in February 2013 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and the box art for the game was released today as well. It’s posted below. Thanks, Nintendo World Report.

A trailer for a Dead Space graphic novel has suggested a new character that will feature in it is set to play a bigger role in the series. Can you say “Dead Space 3″?

A graphic novel short for Dead Space has been released, which discusses in video form Earthgov Sergeant John Carver’s patrol through the planet Uxor. During this time he witnesses an attack on the Marker Site he was guarding, and now he must fight his way through a colony in complete chaos. According to the video description, this is also when John discovers “how important he is in fighting the Necromorph plague.” Apparently, this is also “just the start of John Carver’s saga in the Dead Space Universe.” It’s rumored that the next Dead Space game will feature drop-in co-op, so maybe this is a foreshadowing of the story to come. Then again, maybe it’s just a novel. Hopefully EA will be more forthcoming regarding details of the game at its E3 briefing next week.
