Austin dev team “critically important,” says NCSoft
After announcing job losses in Brighton and Austin last week, NCsoft exec David Reid says the Austin is “critically important” to the company’s future.
“We really do believe that Austin is going to grow at a fairly dramatic pace over the next few years,” said Reid, with a nod in the direction of upcoming MMO Aion: The Tower of Eternity.
Hopefully the news will go some way in placating the Austin team in light of the recent cutbacks.

NC West: Tabula Rasa safe, 58 could go in Brighton, 12 confirmed dropped in Austin
Kotaku’s spoken to David Reid, the new president of publishing of NC West, who’s put some confirmation on the state of Tabula Rasa and job cuts at NCsoft in the US and Europe.
Reid said that Tabula Rasa is not being dropped. He also said that 58 position at NCsoft in Brighton have been marked as potential redundancies, but no final decision’s been made yet.
Confirmed, though, are 12 job losses from the firm’s Austin branch.
There’s plenty more through there about NCsoft planning to focus on big scale MMOs instead of lighter online games. Good plan.
