Braben on Elite Kickstarter: “I was a little nervous”
Veteran British developer David Braben has admitted to being a “little nervous” at around the midway point of his Kickstarter campaign for Elite: Dangerous and doubted if it was “the right thing to have done”. Elite: Dangerous gets teaser trailer, PayPal funding pledges now open
Elite: Dangerous has received a new trailer, courtesy of developer Frontier Developments. The studio has also added a PayPal funding option to the game’s site, which will run alongside the game’s Kickstarter campaign. At the time of writing the Elite: Dangerous Kickstarter has reached £820,035 of its £1,250,000 goal with 15 days to spare. Elite: Dangerous video features live work-in-progress gameplay
Frontier has released a new Elite: Dangerous video featuring live, work-in-progress gameplay between David Braben and other members of the development team. You’ll see a convoy under attack, and a mix of AI and the players controlling the ships. The teams has also updated the FAQ on the single-player portion of game, and new concept art has also been released. With 23 days to go, 15,492 backers have pledged £721,132 towards the Kickstarter’s £1,250,000 goal.

Elite: Dangerous galaxy will evolve over time – dev diary
In the second developer diary for Elite: Dangerous, David Braben delves into the game’s galaxy, how it will evolve over time. and how this will play into player missions. You can re-watch the first developer diary here. The Kickstarter is now 50% funded, with 34 days left to reach its £1,250,000 goal. So far, 13,605 backers have pledged £632,380.
Also, the Elite: Reclamation Kickstarter, a novelization of the game’s story by Drew Wagar, has been fully funded with 33 days to spare.

Frontier opening new development studio in Canada
Frontier Developments has announced it’s opening a new development studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The firm said the region has been on its “radar as an attractive geographic and commercial environment,” in which it can create titles as be surrounded by the pool of local universities graduates and various indie developers. “We are excited about opening an office in Halifax, our first outside of the UK,” said COO and president David Walsh. “The studio will be up and running during August, collaborating with our teams in the UK. We are looking forward to working together with our new colleagues, integrating quickly into the Halifax area and making a positive contribution to the Nova Scotia business community.”

Frontier’s Braben confirmed for Develop keynote
Frontier boss David Braben has been confirmed as a keynote for this year’s Develop. Braben’s keynote, which will happen on the second day of the Brighton-based event, is called “Making Disneyland,” which will touch upon the development of the studio’s latest project Kinect Disneyland Adventures. The game was announced during Microsoft’s E3 briefing.
Develop takes place between July 19-21.
