EA announces massive Holiday 08 roster
EA has just announced a giant line-up for Holiday 2008, and it’s hard to be unimpressed. There is, quite fairly, something for everyone. Big boss John agrees.
“EA’s 2008 lineup is our best ever,” said EA head John Riccitiello. “This is the year that our core franchises leap forward with stunning innovation and we introduce more brand new games than any other year in our history. Sports lovers will compete in an all new holographic mode in Madden NFL 09 and experience the online evolution of their players in NBA LIVE 09. Action fans will be able to destroy everything in sight in Mercenaries 2 and be scared witless in our new Sci-Fi horror title Dead Space. We’ve got casual family titles like Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop and genre-defying experiences like Mirror’s Edge and Spore. EA has never offered consumers a stronger, more innovative and diverse line up of new games.”
It’s all after the link. There’s nothing there you don’t already know about, but seeing it all in one place is something else.

Hands-on with Crysis: Warhead, $30 price confirmed, new movies
IGN’s posted up some hands-on impressions of Crysis: Warhead which confirms that the game will ship for $30, as reported yesterday. From the piece:
And the best news is that even though Warhead is a full game, IGN has confirmed that it’s going to have the price of an expansion pack. At E3, EA will reveal that Crysis Warhead will retail at $29.99. For that, you’ll get a campaign that is, what we’re told, slightly shorter than that of Crysis (your mileage may vary since you can spend a lot of time sneaking or exploring), as well as a multiplayer suite, though Crytek hasn’t revealed any details or features regarding it. Crysis Warhead is scheduled to ship later this year.
The site’s put up three new direct feed movies, in addition. Go see.

Crysis Warhead hardly breaking the bank at $29.99
Crysis Warhead may not be an expansion pack, but its price tag might just fool a few potential buyers. Outlets like Amazon and GameStop have listed the game at a piggy bank-friendly price of $29.99.
Early impressions have pegged the title as a fully-featured side story to the original Crysis, so if you have a PC that can handle it, a purchase seems like a no-brainer.

First Crysis: Warhead footage released
After the break. Shows an awful lot of things blowing up. Looks far more “warry” than Crysis, as previously reported. See for yourself. Expect plenty more from E3.

IGN goes hands-on with Crysis: Warhead, shots included
Update: There’s some more info on Tiscali Games, taken from PC Gamer.
Update 2: The first trailer’s been released. See here.
Here. All sounding good:
“In many ways Warhead is a different game than Crysis. The easiest way to think of Warhead is that it is Crysis with the action ramped up to 11. This promises to be a much more muscular shooter, with no shortage of huge firefights and explosions. In fact, the original Crysis may come off as being a much more cerebral experience in comparison. That game was about cat-and-mouse in the jungle, whereas Warhead is going to be about blowing that jungle up.”
There are some new shots through there as well.

Yerli also says that the changes the firm’s made to the engine may also be applied to Crysis.
Thanks, Sebastian.

Even more Crysis: Warhead shots posted

InCrysis has posted more screens of the upcoming shooter, despite an official shots making light of day yet. It’s a no holds barred Crysis: Warhead hopscotch dingdong, and everyone’s invited. See for yourself.

Crysis: Warhead – decent shots
There’s a couple of half-decent Crysis: Warhead screens on NeoGaf, which make up in part for the shocky shots we saw from Tiscali Games last night.
Have a look, see.

Crytek: All future releases will be cross-platform
Speaking to Next-Gen, Crytek’s engine business manager, Harald Seeley, has explained the reasoning of bringing Crysis Warhead to PC after studio boss Cevat Yerli previously said the company would never do another PC exclusive. Warhead will be the last, apparently.
“When Cevat said we would not create new PC exclusives, he was referring to any new projects we will start in the future,” said Seeley. “Of course Warhead has been under development for quite some time, and we had no desire or intention to disappoint our loyal PC fans.
“So, after some careful consideration, we decided to continue our support for the PC Crysis franchise with this release. But yes, all new franchises we develop in the future will be created with a cross platform strategy in mind. Of course we’re also aware of the danger of making a game that is only designed for one particular audience and platform, and failing to meet the needs of the others. So any game we create will always offer something unique on each platform and will be carefully tuned to both the capabilities and strengths of that platform, as well as the intended audience.”
Glad that’s cleared up. Crytek announced Crysis Warhead, a PC-only title running alongside the original Crysis, this week.

Crysis Warhead will support Games for Windows Live
According to this videogamer.com report, the newly-announced Crysis Warhead will support Games for Windows Live when it release this autumn.
The info’s taken from the game’s boxart, which shows the Games For Windows Live logo. The site surmises this means the PC FPS sequel will feature support for GamerTags, Friends lists, Achievements “and more”.

PC Gamer US gets first look at Crysis Warhead, cover
PC Gamer US has shown it’ll have the first look at Crysis Warhead in next issue, due out June 24.
“This announcement answers a lot of questions,” says the mag, “like why did Crytek cancel plans for a Crysis 1.3 patch (’cause they’re too busy building an awesome new game!) – but asks so many more: Will Warhead be a PC exclusive? Will it run better in DirectX 9 mode? All the answers, plus amazing screenshots and an interview with Crytek’s Cevat Yerli.”

First Crysis Warhead screens in late June, early July
Speaking to videogaming247, EA has confirmed that the first screens of newly-announced Crytek shooter Crysis Warhead will be be released around the end of this month.
“We’re going to have some screens end of June, early July,” said a PR rep.
The company was cagey on further details on the game, however, pointing to the just-released announcement as everything there is to go on at the moment.
“All the details we have for now are in the press release,” the spokesperson added.
The PC-only Crysis Warhead was confirmed this afternoon as a parallel-story shooter to the original, the protagonist being Psycho from Crysis.

Crysis Warhead is “parallel story to Crysis”, PC-only
EA’s formally announced Crysis Warhead, a PC-only standalone game with a parallel story to the original Crysis.
The game will release this autumn, and follows Sergeant Sykes – ‘Psycho’ from Crysis – as he shoots things on the other side of the first title’s island. New weapons and vehicles will be included, and new multiplayer content is promised.
Warhead is the first game to be developed at Crytek´s Budapest studio.
“The best result of a partnership that we can ask for in the EA Partners program is when a world class independent studio like Crytek chooses to continue to work with us,” said EA Partners’ David DeMartini.
“Crysis was an amazing game and is going to be a blockbuster franchise. We could not be more excited to be working with Crytek to launch another hit with Crysis Warhead this year.”

Crytek launches Crysis Warhead site: first image
It’s here. There are no details at all, other than the first teaser image of a man with a pistol. You’ll just have to wait, from the look of it.
Crytek first registered the Crysis Warhead trademark back in March.

No more Crysis updates says Crytek, reason “in the very, very near future”
Crytek’s confirmed that there won’t be any more updates to Crysis, saying that “there almost certainly will not be a patch 1.3″ for the shooter.
The reason for the decision, that company informs in its first monthly update on the game, will be revealed “in the very, very near future”.
Users are urged in that update to “not miss the next Crysis Monthly Update coming to you in June!”
It’s worth remembering that Crytek trademarked Crysis: Warhead back in March, so using our incredible deductive skills, we’d say an add-on may be on the cards. We’ll ask EA this morning.
