Crysis Warhead: Direct-feed intro movie posted
On GameTV.cz. It’s the game’s entire intro movie, and looks very pretty indeed. Gamespot gave this a 9/10 this morning, so if you’re looking for something to play this weekend and you own a computer, it’s either this or WAR. Or both.
Take a look.

Gamespot gives Crysis Warhead 9/10
Should you need any more indication that Crysis Warhead is worth the money, Gamespot’s posted a review score of 9/10. Snip:
Warhead’s single-player campaign should take you no more than six hours or so to complete, but not only does it invite multiple play-throughs, it costs only $30–and doesn’t require you to own the original. In other words, there is no reason why anyone with a capable PC shouldn’t play Crysis Warhead. It’s more focused, it’s more intense, and though it doesn’t provide as much of the sandbox feel as Crysis veterans would wish for, it still delivers on every other front. Play this game.
We’re properly sold. Full thing through the link.

Rumour: Crysis Warhead carrying limited installs
God. Here we go again. This GameExtract piece is carrying an image supposedly taken from the install process of Crysis Warhead which includes the line, “The first end user of this License can install and authenticate CRYSIS WARHEAD on a set number of machines.”
No idea if this is legit or not, but seeing as how SecuROM protection appears to be EA policy, it very well may be.
More soon.

Crysis Warhead confirmed for Steam release
Crytek and Valve confirmed overnight that you’ll be able to buy Crysis Warhead over Steam. Good news.
“The millions of gamers logging into Steam every week to play today’s best PC games are going to love Crysis Warhead,” said Crytek boss Avni Yerli.
“Crytek Hungary has done a terrific job creating this new experience while optimizing CryEngine 2, and we’re looking forward to delivering it and the original Crysis as our first offerings on Steam.”
The game’s out next week, and is attracting very positive reviews so far.

IGN and EG give Crysis: Warhead a big thumbs up
IGN and Eurogamer have reviewed Crysis: Warhead, giving the first online scores of 9.4/10 and 9/10 respectively.
From IGN:
For $30, Crysis Warhead is an incredible value, and you’d be hard pressed to find a better shooter on the PC this year. The single-player campaign is tight and superb, and the multiplayer portion delivers something that you can just in and play and have fun with. I love the intelligent gameplay of Warhead; this isn’t a game where you simply react to highly scripted events, but one where you have to think on your feet, and you’re rewarded for doing so. Crytek once again proves that its one of the premiere shooter developers in the industry, even if it does get an unfair rep as being “just” a technology company. Comments like that make it seem as if the Crytek had a chip on its shoulder, because it addressed almost every complaint about Crysis and then some. I found Warhead to be challenging, exciting, wild, and, yes, very much full of swagger and fury.
From Eurogamer:
Crysis Warhead is probably the Back to the Future II of videogames: rather than totally transform the story and setting, it returns to the original narrative, exploring it from a different angle; once again, the results are sharper, meaner, and have a lot more for you to think about (although, thankfully, there are no dodgy CGI sharks or Elisabeth Shue performances). The original Crysis may have given you the basic tools, but Warhead allows you to really use them, and while its previous titles made it clear that Crytek knew technology like few others, it’s this strange off-shoot Warhead that proves it’s no slouch when it comes to level design and set-pieces either.
This is apparently out next week now, where it was supposed to be released today. We can wait: sounds awesome.
IGN’s video review is after the break.

PC Zone gives Crysis: Warhead 92%
PC Zone’s given Crysis: Warhead 92 percent, the first review score in the world, as far as we’re aware.
According to this piece:
With its budget price and improved multiplayer, there’s more than enough here to cheer nay-sayers.
One of the most striking things about Warhead is the way it shakes the template Crysis snowglobe and has its constituent parts drift and settle into surprising new patterns. In Crysis encounters with enemies were heavily cordoned off from each other, in Warhead anything goes.
It’s a frenzy of intelligent and original level design, far away from the Far Cry model that Crysis aped.”
There’s more through that CVG link. The game’s out this Friday in Europe.

From the release:
On show in Leipzig are Europe’s best selling franchises and consumer favorites like FIFA, Need For Speed, The Sims and Harry Potter, a wide range of casual and family titles for Nintendo platforms including LITTLEST PET SHOP, Boogie SuperStar, Zubo and MONOPOLY, brand new IP like SimAnimals, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space, Dragon Age: Origins, Battleforge, Spore, the new MMORPG Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning, and EA partner titles Left 4 Dead from Valve, Rock Band and Rock Band 2 from MTV Games/Harmonix and Crysis Warhead® from Crytek.
Never before has EA had such a diverse and powerful slate of offerings, and it’s been great to see consumer and critical response to our games,” said Jens Uwe Intat, senior EA VP.
“As more and more people come into interactive entertainment, we are ready with the best games in sports, action, casual, horror, simulation, and online. We’ll be bringing more new games to market this year than in our history, and Leipzig is a great European window to showcase those offerings for the broad range of people that love to play them.”

New Crysis: Warhead trailer shows big bangs for buck
EA’s put out a new Crysis Warhead trailer, showing the chances of it failing are pretty slim. Looks awesome and focuses squarely on combat, hopefully at the expense of trying to be “clever.”
The game’s set on the other side of the island to last year’s Crysis, following Psycho instead of Nomad. Psycho says, “Let’s just kill it” in this movie, which gives us hope.
It’s out next month. After the break.

Crysis: Warhead gets dates for US and Europe
EA just confirmed that Crysis: Warhead will hit North America on September 16 and in Europe on September 12.
Americans can pre-order from the EA Store now for a paltry $24.95.
“We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers,” said Crytek boss Cevat Yerli.
“Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.
At the same time, we designed Warhead to be more accessible for gamers new to the Crysis franchise. It is a game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe – all at a great value.”
