Neverwinter to be released as an MMO in late 2012
Cryptic’s Neverwinter will now be released as a free-to-play MMO based upon 4th Edition D&D rules, instead of a co-operative online RPG as originally planned. After the firm was acquired by Perfect World, the title was delayed into 2012, but because of the extended time needed to devote to the change in direction, Neverwinter has been delayed to the end of 2012. It is to be built using a modified version of the engine powering Star Trek Online and Champions Online, and all content releases will be free. Via: IGN, Eurogamer.
