Quick Quotes: Some monsters in Reckoning are playable races in Copernicus MMO
“There’s just south of 300 maybe in the Providence studio, which is the core of the [Copernicus] MMO team. I’s set in the same universe [as Amalur], so it will become obvious over the next, I don’t know how many months and years of time. This game exists in the same world. In a small way, if you think of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, and World of Warcraft, those were tied together because they were in the same IP, but there will be story connectivity between what we’re doing in the games. In the MMO, there will be races that you can play are monsters in the RPG. Things like that. Same locations, there will be cities and places, there will be a familiarity to it that… Nobody else, I think, has gone in with the intent to do that like this.” – 38 Studios head Curt Schilling to VentureBeat regarding the Kingdoms of Amalur-based MMO Copernicus.

Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios at work on PS3 game

Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling and his 38 Studios are working on an RPG for PS3, if two posted job openings are any indication.
One listing is for a senior PS3 programmer with “significant hands-on technical contributions on at least one on a AAA-level PS3 title”, with the other being for a lead art director who will “be working on an RPG for the PS3 platform”.
There is also a listing for a narrative designer on the company’s website for someone with a “minimum of one AAA title shipped as a designer on PC or console (experience in RPGs preferred)”.
The listings are for Schilling’s recently acquired Big Huge Games, so it is being speculated that it could be one of three things: A new project entirely, the RPG already in the works during the acquisition, or to work on a port of 38′s MMO Copernicus.
38 Studios is comprised of Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, EverQuest designer Travis McGeathy, Forgotten Realms and Star Wars author R. A. Salvatore, and folks who worked on Oblivion.

38 Studios sets a tentative release date for its Copernicus MMO

Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios, which purchased Big Huge Games back in May, has a target date finally set for its fantasy MMO Copernicus.
According to the Boston Globe, we can expect the game to launch sometime during December 2010.
This is if more funding can be attained for the project, as Schilling estimates it will take between $50 – $100 million to complete the game if it’s to contend with the larger MMOs on the market.
Raising money is “a challenge,’’ Schilling told the paper, “but that’s part of the attraction for me,” he admitted.
