Company of Heroes 2 screenshots have been released by THQ, and they show off the “innovative weather condition” simulation tech in the game. Relic has preciously said the weather system will make the brutal Soviet winter on the Eastern Front just as deadly in-game as it was during World War II. Basically, your troops can freeze to death. “Briefings” for Company of Heroes 2 begin on May 7

Those anticipating the reveal of Company of Heroes 2 may not have much longer to wait, if a bit of swag sent to Kotaku is any indication. According to the site, THQ sent over a replica of the June 22, 1941 front page of The New York Times along with a card stating that “briefings begin May 7.” So, a May 7 reveal looks to be the day, then. The replica of the paper with the headline “Hitler Begins War on Russia, with Armies on March from Arctic to the Black Sea” can be seen through this online microfilm copy. Yesterday, scans from PC Gamer UK popped up online showing the game was not only in the works, but set for release in 2013 from Relic.

Company of Heroes 2 releasing in 2013 according to PC Gamer UK scan

Company of Heroes 2 is in the works, according to a scan of the upcoming issue of PC Gamer. The image was posted on Reddit, and the article details a visit the reporter took to Relic to see the game. According to what was gleaned from the scan, the title is set on the Eastern front of World War II and includes Stalingrad, Smolensk, Kursk and Moscow as locations. The game’s lead designer, Quinn Duffy, is quoted as saying: “We want more authenticity, we want more realism, we want more tactical improvements.” Shack contacted THQ regarding the scan and it had “no official comment on the images or article.”
