Apple patent shows moral choices turned into comic books, uses Mass Effect as example
Apple filed a patent back in 2009 that turns in-game moral choices into an evolving comic book story, and uses Mass Effect’s dialogue system as an example. Given the rise of morally-focused adventure games out there today, this could be a neat little mechanic.

Tomb Raider comic to release alongside game
Dark Hose and Square Enix have teamed up to deliver a prequel comic for Crystal Dynamics’ new Tomb Raider game. Called Tomb Raider: The Beginning, the comic was penned by the game’s writer, Rhianna Pratchett, and Destructoid reports pre-orders at US Best Buy stores will score a hardcover version for free. This isn’t Lara’s first go-round with comics; Top Cow produced a Tomb Raider comic series which began in the late 1990′s and ran for 50 issues, as well as spawning crossovers with Witchblade and Fathom.
Tomb Raider is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early March.

Zombi-U: Z-14 webcomic now complete
Ubisoft’s tie-in webcomic ZombiU: Z-14 is finished. The episodic comic released once a day for two weeks, and charts the first 14 days after the zombie outbreak. You can read the whole thing online here; it’s well worth a look just for the cleverness of the quasi-animation sued to display different images as you scroll vertically through the tale.ZombiU is out now everywhere the Wii U is.
Thanks, Evil Avatar.

PSA: Dragon Age comic series arrives this week
Just a reminder that Dragon Age: Those Who Speak arrives in comic stores on August 22. The latest mini-series spun from BioWare’s fantasy RPG setting follows the adventures of Alistair, Isabela and Varric in the Tevinter homelands, and is a follow up to The Silent Grove. It’s been written by series lead David Gaider which makes it canonical – so I hope you didn’t kill off the cheeky ginger king in Dragon Age: Origins. The comic series is releasing at an odd time – or is it? A fresh batch of Dragon Age 3 rumours suggest we may be approaching an announcement. Hello, yes pwease.
Thanks, GameInformer.

Namco Bandai dusts Klonoa off for digital comic series
Namco Bandai’s latest foray into digital comics – part of the publishers plan to keep interest in neglected properties alive – revisits everyone’s favourite cat-rabbit-hand-ear thing. Klonoa: Dream Traveller of Noctis Sol was announced at San Diego Comic Con, and is due in August on ShiftyLook. If you’re not already fangirling like a windmill, how about word that The Big O artist Hitoshi Ariga is handling pencils? Oh yeah. Klonoa starred in a couple of late 90′s, early 00′s platformers which were pretty much a joy and delight in every way. Be right back, emailing another HD re-release request.
Thanks, Destructoid.

Sony shuttering comics service in September
Sony has announced plans to shut down the PSP comic service in September, and new content will no longer be added to the store as of March 15 in Japan. The US and European ends stopped updating last summer. The comics tab will also be removed from the main PSP interface, but those who have purchased comics through the service will still be able to access the content until the end of the year. After which, comics will no longer be accessible, so in order to continue having access, Sony suggested using the Media Go program. Meanwhile, the firm is looking into offering comics and other digital books through other Sony and PlayStation brand products and services. Thanks, Andriasang.
