DiRT 2 PC demo released
The PC DiRT 2 demo is out now. Yours for 1.31Gb. Get a full list of mirrors, plus gameplay and tech videos, on the game’s official site.
It features two full events. DirectX 11 boffins take note: the game supports it.

DiRT 2 PC to be released on December 4
Codemasters’ announced that DiRT 2 for the PC will release on December 4 in the UK, with a release on December 1 in the US and December 2 in mainland EU. The game will support DirectX 11.
To celebrate the announcement, CM’s sent out brand new screenshots.

DiRT 2 looking safe for Friday release with big MC averages

Codemasters done good, say the reviewers of the internet. Releasing this Friday, DiRT 2′s managed an 89 percent MC average on 360 and 88 percent on PS3, and all anecdotal indications are accompanied by large thumbs pointing up.

Sony to distribute DiRT 2 PS3 version in Europe
Sony is to handle sales and distribution of the PS3 version of DiRT2 in all PAL territories aside from Spain, Australia and New Zealand, Codemasters said today.
To be clear – this doesn’t mean Sony’s publishing the game. As we’ve just been told by Codies PR, “It’s strictly sales and distribution… The game will still be published and on the Codemasters label and marketed by Codemasters offices in UK and across Europe.”
It’s out on September 10 (PAL) and Septembr 11 (UK). PR after the break.

DiRT 2 soundtrack revealed: Queens of the Stone Age, more

Codemasters has announced the soundtrack for Colin McRae: DiRT 2.
It will include songs from White Lies, Queens of the Stone Age, Ladyhawke, Friendly Fires, You Me at Six, The Qemists, and loads more which we have posted after the break.
Games out September 8 and 11 in the US and Uk respectively.

DiRT 2 game designer talks events, multiplayer in new video

Codemasters’ chief game designer, Matthew Horsman, is seen in the video after the break talking about how DiRT 2 has benefited from work the team did with GRID.
Horsman also chats a bit about the one hundred events jammed into the game, and explains how multiplayer allows you to mix up car and track types.

DiRT 2 gets final ship dates
Codemasters said today that DiRT 2 will release on September 8 in the US, September 10 in non-Brit Europe and September 11 in the UK.
The McRae racer’s out for 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP, with a DirectX 11-enabled version coming later in the year.

DiRT 2 PC pushed to December, to have DirectX 11 elements

Codemasters said today that the PC version of DiRT 2 will “support the wealth of new performance enhancing features that will be available in DirectX 11.”
In order to get the features in, however, the game needs to “benefit from an extended development program” and ship in December. Not September. As originally planned.
DX11 hardware is expected in the back half of the year. The upgrade will ship with Windows 7 and as a download for Vista.

Codies put out a bunch of new images from Colin McRae: DiRT 2 today, all of which are CG from the look of it.

DiRT 2 features a Colin McRae Memorial Cup race

Codemasters has included a Colin McRae Memorial Cup rally race in DiRT 2.
In the game, players will work towards qualifying for the race, and his name will pop up in other places as well.
“You’ll hear other drivers talking about him,” Codemasters’ Mark Turosz told MTV. “He’s the central figure in the narrative.”
According to the report, this is one of the first times that an actual “real-world death” has been implemented in a game.
It’s expected to arrive at retail in September.

Rally man Ken Block becomes DiRT2 “face”

Codemasters has signed Subaru rally driver Ken Block to be a “key motorsport athlete” for Colin McRae: DiRT 2.
“Colin McRae is one of the main reasons that I am a rally driver,” said Block.
“He is a big inspiration to me and the way I drive my rally car.”
There’s a video of Block talking about his relationship with McRae and his involvement in the game on GamersHell.
The game’s out for all platforms in September.

DiRT2 trailer shows woman in shower, cars jumping

Codemasters has posted up a DiRT2 teaser trailer on the game’s site: hit this.
You can’t see it if you’re in the US, apparently, probably because there’s video of a woman in a shower in it and America has a problem with the fact people have skin.
There’s no much by way of gameplay in there, but you will see some cars. It’s all you can hope for.

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 announced, first shots, interview
Codemasters has announced Colin McRae: DiRT 2 for Xbox 360, PC, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP in 2009.
According to this IGN report, “Exploring various disciplines of off-road racing, Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will utilise an enhanced version of the EGO engine that was last seen in the impressive looking GRID, and will feature comprehensive online modes that promise to be a marked improvement over those in the original.”
There’s an interview with long-time McRae dev lead Gavin Raeburn elsewhere on IGN, as well as the first screens.
